Horrible experience at AutoInt-certified detailer (long)

Schwa72: After reading your post(s) i gotta say that my heart goes out to you! I would have literally flipped out if someone did that to my Acura, which is a daily driver with 145k on it!

While I've read many of Ron K's posts, I can't really say that I would consider him a better detailer than myself or anyone here. Granted he knows alot, but just becuase you have a driver's liscense does that mean you know how to drive? I think not!

As far as im considered just because someone is "AutoInt Certified" doesnt mean that makes them any better than the rest of us.

Forgive me if that sounds arrogant, but if i were in your shoes I would have went through the roof!

"I am also a listed on auto.int, all i needed to do was call them and send them a email and they listed me on."

That is kind of shocking that there is not even any kind of Auto Int course or testing to get listed as certified.

I would have thought that you would at least have been required to attend an Automotive International detailing course to be certified.

If you feel they are $$$$ driven NYD then why do you choose to have your business listed with them? Hmmmm, could it be to draw more customers to your business and make more $$$$$? See the irony?

As for the course, I know the information they teach in the course. I have part of the manual they use, I would be willing to bet you would learn something new.

why are you defending auto.int? (friends with ron?)

I have never received one customer from auto.int, just saw the site one day and got myself listed.

I am willing to bet i would learn something new, but the problem with all these so called "Detail learning shops" is that they are taking advantage of everyone who takes that course.

And if i am not mistaken auto.int rates you on the site depending on how much product you buy from them and if you go and take the course. Give me a break, the more you buy from them the better they make you look on the web site gold, bronze, silver. who really cares what you are rated as long as the job gets done and the customer is happy.

And i must be honest, Auto.int products suck compaired to all the other companys out there.

Ron is a great guy and i have spoken with him in the past and he does have a lot of knowledge but business is business.

As most people know me on autopia I am not a kiss A$$, i tell it the way it is and the way I feel.

NYD

I am with you, NYD. There's a difference between being a money driven detailer and doing something you love as your business. In order to do what you love, you gotta make money, so it makes perfect sense for you to list your business on the auto.int website.

Sorry, Showroom, I fail to see the irony.

Making money is all well and good, but don't condem a different company for doing the same thing you are.

I hear that crap all the time, Meguiars is all marketing and in it for the $$$$$, according to NYD AutoInt is in it for the $$$$$$. ALL businesses are in it for the money, that's the nature of business.

Yes, that is true, we are all in it for the money, but like chuckmotor says, what better way to make money then to do what you love doing. If you ask me auto.int is wrong how they post people on the site, just because someone takes a class and buys products from them does not make that person a good detailer. It is not fair to the customer that he thinks he is going to get a professional job, when all he gets is auto.int one step wax. If i was the customer i would call auto.int and complain about that detailer.

:down to auto.int

Every business is in it for the money but the one's that succeed are the one's who say, "How can I help the customer? and not "what is in it for me?"

Really all I can add the conversation. I feel I've already voiced my opinion of Ron K and autoint in the past enough. I've learned some more stuff though. I think the guys at PRO know more than Ron but they don't speak out as publicly as he does. It takes some work to make contact w/ them.
