hopefully my final high end Wax question(s)

Carnuaba content doesn't really add or subract from the gloss of the paint. It is the oils added or blended with the wax that give it the look. Carnauba wax is opaque, like the medicine pills (medical grade carnaubab wax which is very high quality) or gummy bears.

Infact the whole carnuaba content is kind of a myth anyways. 60 percent volume is roughly 20 percent by weight (considering that carnauba flakes are about 1/3 less dense then the solvents used to cut them). Zymol (and Swissvax) take the cheapest indgredient (the wax) and market it. Genious.

Interesting :nervous:

I HIGHLY doubt, u'll get many extra customers for offering such a high end wax. I also doubt u'll be able to charge significantly more for a coat of a high end wax. I doubt that the wax would ever pay for itself.

90% of the shine in my opinion is from the surface preparation. A decent glaze adds as much wetness to the paint as any wax in my opinion. All the high end wax's require their "cleaner fluid" to not only clean the paint but add the wetness of a glaze.

I'd just keep doing what you are doing. There are other ways to move from the kid image. A professional leather binded book showcasing your work would be the first step. This will definitely impress customers and allow them to see other high end cars, excellent before and after pictures showing swirl removal is a must. The customer will instantly trust you with their car if they see cars worth twice as much as theirs being restored.

Get a T shirt made with your company name on it. Nothing says your serious then your own T shirt. Have business cards if you dont already have it, and pampflets made so you can pull one out when you discuss prices with customers. They can take these with them and call you back at a later date.

You cannot get more professional than that for a mobile detailer. That will get you more work than by offering a high end wax.

Funny you said leather book. I am actually right now in the process of making mine. I wanted an embossed leather book but i guess it wasnt in the cards. I did however get a nice leather binder. It will look great when im finished.

Already have shirts, cards, pamphlet, stickies

Vintage is picky for application/removal, and needs a 4 hour wipedown to finish out ideally. I looked into getting from a business standpoint, and the extra time vs P21S 100% or Souveran was a big deterrent for me.

Zymol's policies are a pain too - the licensed detailer thing is big bucks, and they do hunt the forums, etc for people using Vintage commercially.

You'll get past the kid thing with time, there's just no way to shortcut from starting out to $350,000 cars. Do some rats, get your mistakes out, learn to finish perfect, and the big jobs will come.

goood deal guys! you have persuaded me out of buying it again! i now do not feel the need to drop 2k on a wax! and yes i will buy p21s 100% soon. I am getting higher and higher end clientele every day. i worked on a jag s type a week ago. i have a new

land rover coming over today. I am starting to get a better clientele base.

as to marketing, i just put an add in the PCA magazine. Its SOOO cheap. i cant wait for the 1st issue to come out so i can see how it is going to do.

That's awesome Dainel that you asked Paul how he can get 3 years if it hasn't even been out for 6 months... :D

He still didnt give me a straight answer. I get the feeling he doesnt read my WHOLE email. Just the 1st line or 2.

But i am kinda fed up with his "best detailer in the world" crap. We all know you are the best todd. :secret haha

This is just my personal opinion...Think of all the other detailing products you could buy for $2000. I mean, you could probably even attend a clinic or two with money to spare. You could have 2-3 rotaries, plus every pad known to man, and 10 tubs of P21s 100%.

Just my dos pesos.

just wondering... why would i want any more then 1... possibly 2 rotarys haha. I think that i would rather buy a CR spotless and more products.

I like having multiple machines, because I can set 1 up for small pads, and 1 up for larger pads, and don't have to take time to stop during a detail to chage backing plates. Plus it's good to have a backup.

Yea i can see backup but 1 for small pads and 1 for large? haha it takes like 15 seconds to change a BP.

A little trick that brian (VAsupershine) taught me. When putting another BP on place it on the top of the thread and then turn the rotary on at speed 1 and the bp will go to the bottom in like less then a sec.

ironic: that you make a thread about getting high end buisness

then turn around and talk Shi# about the best detailing SALESMAN

in the world

also your crush on Todd is strange at best:aww:

I was about to say how it was funny how every time i start a thread i end up talking about something COMPLETELY different.

and how can you not have a HUGGGEEEE amount of respect for Todd... and i do not think i need to say anything to the "crush" statement.

Hehe, this is what the Edge system is for! Actually, it would be nice to have a backup but that's really just a luxury for the weekend warrior. However for professionals, it's kind of necessary just in case your machine decides to stop working. :LOLOL

If you are simply trying to bring more customers in by buying a really expensive wax, you are completely wasting your money.

That money would be better spent in other areas such visual appearence of your shop and marketing tools.

Why would you want a $2000 wax? :lol I'm just saying you can have a backup rotary for your backup. If I have $2000 just to spend on detailing items, dropping two large on a wax wouldn't be my first choice. It's your money though. Look at what you could get for $2000

1. CR SPOTLESS (Which I would like to try)

2. Pad Washing System

3. An extra rotary or two. :lol

4. 3M Sun Gun or the other "natural" light system (can't remember the name)

5. Enough polish and pads to last a LONG time.

These are just examples.
