Hood scratching

Is it true that hoods get a lot more scratches than other parts of the car? If so, why is this true? My hood seems to scratch up much more than the rest of the car.

I think the most damaged part of my car is behind the right front wheel. Any sediment from puddles smacks that wheel first. I get more dirt accumulation on the sides of the car as well.

I think different cars are different as my wife's Focus's back end gets filthy.

My hood has more pock mark damage than my trunk, but my trunk appears to have more microscratches since I try different things out of my hood and it's nearer to where I hang my obsession light.

I think hood and trunk are just some of the first thing you see when you look at the car.

I'm planning on next year about this time gettign brave enough to wetsand.

Have you ever driven a motorcycle with your mouth open??.... ...I have and let me tell you I ate a bug... ...and the front of your clothes get dirty vs the back...basically you are driving into anything that happens to be on top of that stretch of road, bugs included therefore the hood being in the front is what takes the worst beating ....

I hope is all making sense...

Definitely the hood of any vehicle takes quite a beating. The heat from the engine. The sun blasting on it. Ice accumulating on it in winter. Rain water sitting on it. Black vehicles have more problems than other vehicles. Black paint is soft compared to other colors. It also absorbs more heat. I have just spent over two hours working on the hood of my year old black Dodge Ram. This is my ninth black vehicle. I know black!
