Honda paint problem

I have a 1997 eucalyptus green Honda Accord. On the trunk lid and top of the car the paint is starting to fade. It basically looks like a white cloud in the paint. I assume that this is clear coat failure, but not sure.



I have polished the areas (SSR 2.5 & 1), and they seem perfectly smooth to the touch. When looked at at a sharp angle in the sunlight, the areas look smooth. I would expect clearcoat failure to happen from the outside, but this looks like it is happening under the clearcoat.



Any insight into this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Can you describe the shapes of the spots, how large, etc?



FWIW, sounds like CC failure to me too.

There really is no shape to it, it is just various levels of fading to white. I doesn't look like it is starting at a particualar spot, but just random over an area of probably 1 foot by 1 foot on the roof, and a little smaller area on the trunk.



I have tried taking pictures of it with little success.

Based on what you describe, it is indeed failing IMO.
