Honda paint help

2002 Accord, Satin silver metallic paint, paint code NH-623M. The old folks' car.

A few years ago, the paint on the sideview mirror mounts began to fade a bit, and last spring it had puckered and began flaking off. I have a small brush bottle of said color for touchups, but it has gotten worse that I'm now faced with repainting the mount. Not the actual plastic mirror housing, but the hard metal (I think) which attaches in the window frame. This is the only part of the car with paint like this.

I have 3 options that will produce acceptable results:

1. I could just sand, primer, and repaint the mount black, as the windows are tinted black. If so, what type of paint should I use? And satin or glossy?

2. I have found some matching paint in spray cans, but they are by companies I've not heard of. Does anyone know of quality/reliability issues with them?

3. Try to find a close match to the Honda silver. Oddly, DupliColor has this paint in a pen and brush bottle, but not spray.

Here's a pic of the area in question, with area marked pink.

Any help will be appreciated.
