Honda Civic SIR seats?

I have one to do tonight and I was wondering what the seats are made of? They are suede looking. I'm guessing that this is something I should stay away from with my extractor. Am I right?

Yes, I would if I didn't know the material. I'd do warm MF with 10:1 on a spot behind the seat first. I pretty sure it is the faux.

If they are real Type R seats, black on black with the red stitching, then the outer edge is in fact real suede and the inner area is black tweed.

They are on an 02 SIR. They are black on black with red stitching and the red insert in the cut out at the top of the seat. And they have a sort of jersey center section.

It's known as alcantra or generally known as ultrasuede. It's made from polyester. I've owned a few cars with this material on the seats. I would clean them with a diluted mild detergent and a soft bristled brush.

Incorrect. I had a type R for a few years. The material is not real suede. It's alcantara, a material used on race seats because it's nap really holds you into the seat.

I love the stock recaro's in the Type R's and new Si's but the material is funky to detail. I would just stay away from them.

I dunno man, you may be right, but when I read this question I called a couple of my friends who are die-hard honda guys, all of them said that the Type R seats USDM and JDM are real suede.
