I've been using some of my son's outgrown tee shirts when I QD my car. I figure they're all white, 100% cotton, no decals etc. They work fine. When I wash them though, nothing comes out. they're still soft, and smell "April fresh", but are brownish grey. Do I not use them again, should I not be using them to begin with?

A comment on the shirts...It's true they feel soft, but the density of the weave, the absence of thread loops and the shortness of the pile make T-shirts prime sources of scratches.



Microfiber towels and even quality bath towels have a very tall pile with hundreds (tens of thousands thousands with microfiber) loops per inch. These loops pull surface debris inside of them and away from the surface. The loops also add cushion against the uneven pressure of your hand reducing "hot" pressure spots.



You may have had good luck with the shirts so far. I did also for a long while. But Microfiber towels are SO much better and safer. Once you use them you will toss all the old T-shirts.

Brad is absolutely correct. You should be quick detailing with either Miracle Towels (Magic Towels or whatever they're called now) or even Charisma towels. If you know anything about me, you'll know that I'm a huge fan of microfiber towels but especially the Miracle Towels. Laters.

MF is the best thing you can use for QD'ing, as they remove dirt/contaminants the best without sctraching the paint. Spend the few extra bucks and get a few quality MF towels, that will work better and last longer.

As mentioned above, invest in some micro fiber and you'll be glad that you did.

Just Barely 2 years old - visible swirls hardly found...except close inspection under sunlight...a very good colour for hidding swirls

Mission - to restores her to show room condition...this was my 1st detail over chinese new yr break

this is how i did it
under sun...not too bad looking

just got it on CNY - 2 yaers old car - lady driver - fequently wash by road side car wash & resulting....swirls & deep scratches


this is one of the rarest moments - finding swirls under bright sun light

2 months not wash

stubborn stains

Menu (means secret that i used to transformed this car)

2 bucket wash with APC 2oz mixture - micro fibers

Osren Multi purpose cleaner with assorted brushes to cleans emblem & hard stained area

Optimun no rinse was as Lube with mild clay

Quick wipe down with ONR rinseless wash & 2 micro fibers to dry

Paint correction - Rotary with Lake country Yellow colour cutting foam for removing swirls & Random Deep isolated scratches (RIDs) with Meguiars M 80 Mirror glaze polish ....speed 600 to spread, 1000 with gradual movement & speed , finishing off at 1400 with moderate movement

paint polishing - rotary & Lake country polishing foam pad at speed 600 to spread the products & Speed 1000 move moderately with pressure & backing off to speed 600 with light feathering off

Protections -
i choose nxt 2.0 - 2 REASON EASY TO APPLY & durability lasting better than Conventional car waxes (superb water beading effect)

strengthen with M135 ( UQD for non- detailer)

Glass stains - Single sided wool with glass polish speed 3000 & extreme pressure to polish

claying - prior before paint correction to pick up - upper paint contaiminants - like brake dust, industry fall out & tar

optimum no rinse wash diluton 2 oz per 450 ml of water as lube

lots of stains - hardly can be removed by mere washing & scrubing

1 thing....Those scratches on the left side of the rear bumper. On the before/after shot it looks like one(before) is of the left side and one(after) is of the right
