Honda Accord V6 Coupe

I am contemplating the purchase of one of these soon. Looking for pro's and con's. Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks

What year?

I have 2 civics, and one time when the 2001 civic was in the shop, I had a 2002 Accord for a loaner...believe you-me, there aren't ANY cons!

I bought a V6 Accord the end of June. I looked at Lexus 330, Accura TL etc.

My impressions are:

Leather Interior is very nice looks alot like the Accura.

V6 is very fast

Nice smooth ride

Quiet, but not as much as the Lexus

7 to 10 thousand dollars less than the Lexus 330 and Accord TL

It doesn't have automatic head lights

I am very happy with the Accord, it really is a nice car.

OOPS :nixweiss

'04 or '05

NOT HYBRID!!!!!!!:D

(I'm NOT that "green" - refer to current vehicle <-------------)

If what I remember is correct, the hybrid will be 240HP V6 plus the electric assist. That should make for a pretty fast ride with pretty good mileage.;)

I considered buying one when I sold my truck and really liked the test drive. I would have bought one (EX-Loaded with NAV), but they would not budge on the sticker price and I get Ford A-Plan, so I went with a 2005 Volvo S40 Turbo which is awesome!. You really can't wrong with an Accord, it is very reliable and comfortable. The only caveat I would see, is that there are so many on the road that you may get confused looking for yours in the mall parking lot.

NOPE, mine will be the black (or saphire) mirror with all the blind people near it!:D :D :D

Can anyone point me to some Honda boards? Not the "ricer" kind, but those with useful information about performance, mods, etc?

Thanks

There are plenty of honda boards out there, but the one that I've found to have the broadest range of usefull info would be Honda-Tech (link )

I'm sure if h-t members catch wind of your Lightning there'll be plenty of people who will show respect for your taste in vehicles... mind you though, ricers (I hate even mentioning the word) infest everything like the plague, so they'll be lurking.

Good luck though on your search... I'm looking forward to what black paint looks like with 20,000 coasts of UPP and SG.:D

Yeah! and $8000+ when the batteries go TU

I thought the batteries were warrentied for the life of the car, but maybe that's just someone at work with the civic hybrid blowing smoke

one proble I know with the batteries is that some body shops won't touch the car if there's any problem in that area. supposedly there are too many unknowns for them to repair that. a friend that got hit in his civic had to use the honda dealer body shop becasue he couldn't find another shop that would work on his hybrid.

My sister has a 2002 EX V6 Coupe. It's been good mechanically, but some of the interior pieces don't seem to be holding up well. There are a few creaks and rattles throughout the cabin. The CD changer also quit working last week. The leather on the older (98-02) Accords doesn't seem to hold up well, but the one on the new ones seem to be much better. Even with the 200hp V6, the car really moves quite well and handling is pretty good, so I can imagine that the new Accord with 240hp should be quick and handling should be the same, if not better. Are you getting the 6-speed or the Auto?

Get the 6 speed, I can honestly say the 5 speed auto is not fun to drive, nor does it shift as well as a manual does( i have a 02 5 spd civic ex, mom has the 03 accord v6, tell me how I know?)!!!!!!

Looking at the automatic right now. Houston traffic can get pretty abysmal at times so an automatic is almost required, although double clutching can be fun when downshifting. There are very few available choices right now being at the end of the model year, so who knows......

what year are you getting? i would stay away from the 6th gen v6's since their trannies are dropping like flies, 98-01 have a 7 year 100,000 miles warranty the 02 is the only that has the 3 yr 36k. The new 7th gen also has a recall on it also and some of the owners are not happy with little problems that arise in the 7th gen. You can find more informative info. here www.v6performance.net

Saphire Blue Pearl! Easy on gas! Untouched by the dealer, inside and out! Pix later once I can hit it with FP and the K twins! Automatic because that was what was available this deep into the model year (that is what warrenties are for, right?)

You should be fine with the automatic--just change the fluid and don't beat on it too much. :)

Nice car, my friend just bought herself a 2004 4cylinder auto coupe. Silver. The 4 cylinder is pretty darn quick itself! She loves it. :)

I know what you mean. I'm never going to buy a V6 Honda automatic again.

Our Odyssey has just 11,000 miles, and already the transmission is acting strangely. The 1-2 shift is so abrupt that it strains my neck muscles, and every moment or so there's a sudden jerk or a thud. I had the dealer look into it, but all they did was do the recall and say it was fixed.

Honestly, I can't believe the quantity of transmission failure and Honda's reluctance to create a solution. Worse of all, Honda's are known to be reliable, so most consumers, like me, go and buy without much reliability research.

I'd get a TSX. It's slightly slower and more practical, but it looks better, has more equipment, handles better, and is so much more reliable.

My Dad just bought an '04 V6 Accord. He had two Lexus ES300s prior (a 93 and 00, my Mom still has the newer one) but he thinks the Lexus has too soft of a ride. The V6 is very strong, he says it is the quickest car he's owned. I guess the only thing close would have been the 65 Bonneville he had when I was a kid that had a 421. Anyway, it is a lot quicker than the Lexus is.

I've heard about the Honda V6/automatic tranny issues, I know a couple of customers who've had their's replaces in Acura CLs so it is a legitimate concern.

My brother has an Odyssey with almost 20,000 on it now with no problems so far. Pretty quick for a minivan, btw. :xyxthumbs
