Honda Accord detail including sanding marks & scratch correction

Hi friends!

Greetings from the sunny Mauritius.

This Nippon lady came to us for an enhancement. The car was in good shape in every way apart from being rather wrongly cared for in the paint department. It had a previous detailing job somewhere and a few visits to local car washes. It had sanding marks inflicted but not removed and holograms all over resulting from wrong machining techniques/ aggressive products and pads on a notoriously soft factory black Honda paint, Nighthawk Black Pearl. The car washes only added to the injury with more swirls and scratches. Another factor is the constant digging of trenches, all working their way to pollute our roads further. In reality, the paintwork was butchered and skinned.

Upon arrival

OMG! How to avoid this when our roads are in a forever “employ people to dig holes and fill them back” fashion “à la Keynes”?

You would say a truck but it goes long to say how much polluted our roads have become in the name of development.

1st and 2nd rounds of clay, is there more?

yes, moving to 3rd round. Chemicals alone wouldn’t remove all the contaminants.

At last, I felt reassured, the clay removed very little contaminants.

The finished product says it all...INCREDIBLE!!! Your perseverance is to be applauded, that was a lot of repetitive work. Very well done.

If there was a trophy for worst car saved you would win. Great work. I would have voted for a repaint. What products are you using?

Beautiful save.

How long?

Thanks a lot. the whole thing took 4 days of which the 1st one was cleaning & decontamination.

Apart from being soft, it`s a very sticky paint. even wiping out polish residue was a pain. I tried different things from IPA, ONR and others. Finally and thanks God, I used a towel soaked in hot water to remove the polishing oils :)

Thanks for your kinds :)

doing it as a passion, not even a side job.

Here what I used.

Wash using 2BM method: Local car shampoo, wash mitts, wheel cleaning brush

Decontamination: Clay and fallout remover/wheel cleaner, all from sonax

Correction: FG400 with cutting pad with makita rotary, worked the zenith method to ease finishing. several hits were required.

Polishing/Finishing: Menzerna IP2500/SF4000 with LC HD orbital pads. Orange/Red. Used the Flex 3401
The orange pad is an awesome pad, extremely versatile.

Sealed paintwork and glass with Optiseal
wheels sealed with DP sealant
tyres got a local dressing

cheers
