Homemade wax

:idea
Hey, me too. My only problemis I am having trouble finding more than one person willing to shell the little asking price of $75,000/10oz jar for this mystical, yet magical elixer. Of course I'll attest that it is made with the best and finest ingredients out there -- pure as pure can be. It's 100% organic, 100% non-toxic and 100% bio-degradeable. It comes with lifetime refills, a certificate of authincity, complete with individually numbered, with hand drawn, 100% recycled storage recepticals. I even offered to throw in free shipping and handling, as well as 20% off the purchase of a second and/or third jar. But wait there's more, each jar even comes with two custom silk embroidered foldable application/removal tools, as well as personalized instructions on their usage.

I'll take a case. (Do you accept personal checks?) great thread!

SURE!!!
:yourrock
However, you will have to wait for me to ship it out until after the check clears (usually 3-5 days) -- for faster service though I will accept PayPal, US Postal Money Orders, Cashiers Checks, Cash, Gold Bullion or Wire Transfers (slight fee for the latter) :D

Crap! As usual, my wife has tapped out my gold bullion. Have to catch you next month...:crazy2:

Next batch was much better, the first was hard as a rock and useless. The second one I actually applied to the fender of my truck. It takes alot more oil than I first thought. Almost 50/50 wax to oil and solvent content.Because of the turpentine it smells like a pine forest, maybe I can call it "pine forest rub" jk. Anyways, it looks and feels and applies like a useable product. I have to state again, this is an information thread only.

Well, some know me from other forums and I am currently attempting to make my own wax. I have located the raw ingredients, spent a year researching and I am hopefully mixing within the next few weeks. I will post pics as I fumble through the process and yes I will likely send samples out if it ends up useable.

More to come
Here is the first try, I will test it later on, feels a little too waxy yet, needs some tweaking. When I ge the proper scales I will give it a better attempt
bees, candellia and two forms of carnauba
I meant, would likely not spread very easily:yay

Just a few of comments.
1. You are using at least 6 products that you have mentioned and probably more. The mixture combinations possible are so many that I don't have the math skills to even guess at them. I think somewhere in the neighborhood of 6 million might be close. :)
2. The big boys such as Meguiar's and Mothers have complete labs with lots of staff, equipment and money, yet it can take years before they come up with a usable product.
3. I think what you are doing will be interesting and fun for you, but don't be too discouraged if it turns out to be cheaper to buy Zymol Vintage after all is said and done.
4. It's kind of like your favorite process and products. If you like doing it, have at it. :bigups

I think it is interesting to see how the makeup of a wax changes as the inputs change or the amount of raw materials. So far I think I have spent in the neighbourhood of 50 dollars. I have no multimillion dollar budget or million dollar dreams. The point is to expand and continue on with a thread like home brewing.

I am kind of interested in this, I never thought about somebody making their own wax. Now I want to try it

If you have a library with older books in it, you may be able to find some formulae from "back in the day" for car waxes (both paste and liquid). I have some, but man... do they sound harsh!!

next on the list is a different solvent. Scale has been ordered and hopefully more raw materials to work with.

No scale yet but more raw materials, may eyeball a batch tonight again. I am interested to see how the new solvents perform.

Lastest update, more raw materials came in, more than I asked for and the scale has come in, i will pick it up tonight. I will be mixing next week, pics and updates to follow.

You gotta be a member to see pics over there, and I don't think I'm a member. Oh well...

well sign up, it only takes a second

any hoo here are the pics, they are batches 2,3,4
