Homemade ONR?

Is it possible to make your own ONR mix in a pinch? In theory, a bucket full of soapy (car wash) water should lubricate as well as ONR diluted, shouldn't it?

EDIT: Of course I would use the same gentle method of wool mitt to wash/microfiber to dry, and use a bucket of fresh water to rinse. I've been thinking of trying a 50/50 section of my trunk to see how it turns out.

I think the problem with a homemade ONR would be the residue on the paint. I'd think it'd be pretty diffucult to get a clean surface with traditional soaps

I agree with this.

I have used regular car soap but more diluted and havent had problems with residue. RainX wash and wax car soap worked just fine. Tried it with Z7 and it didnt work so well. Try adding a cap of solution at a time to find what works for you.

this sounds crazy but a member from DC made a batch of S&W using hair conditioner diluted with water he even posted results that got a few members to give it a try
