Homemade Grit Guard

Okay, so it's not EXACTLY the same, but hey, out of necessity (okay, actually, the lack of funds) comes the Mother of Ingenuity!;)

Thought the GG was a great idea, just can't see spending the $ along with the shipping for this, sooo, I came up with an idea that I think may work.

Was at the dollar store yesterday and got this 3 piece kids set for playing in the sand. Bought it for the sand sifter, other 2 pieces going to the nieces.

Cut the outside edges so it would fit in my Wally World bucket, placed it upside down, and viola, it fits AND appears to look like it should "work". :bigups Haven't had a chance to try it out, but who knows - any difference it makes would be a welcomed one.

Just thought I'd pass this idea along:)

Hey thanks for the great tip. I think I will have to try that out. I'm kind of on the lack of funds also and if that can hold me out until I can afford a GG then it should work.

Thanks,
Mark

Nice tip! Just make sure you don't let the little ones play in the sand and then take it to your bucket. LOL!

I use a GG in both of my buckets with the two-bucket wash. The GG (or something like you've described), is a MUST HAVE for the serious enthusiast!

LIBERTY - easy to do, just need the old shears:)

ROCK, oh, don't worry, those little ones, their my sisters - love them a bunch, and then get to go home without them:lol There's one in the bunch of 5 that will take that little shovel, get sand from the yard and dump it in the pool - and I know just which one will be bound to do it too!:lol Can't say I'm a serious enthusiast - enthusiastic wannabe is more like it;)

JARED, thanks :)

KLNYC, will take a pic tomorrow of my handy work - hot pink GG! Oh, by the way,(nothing to do with detailing) is it common not to have a/c in NYC - just asking because son wants to do an internship at NYU this summer and and from what people say, a/c isn't that easily found there - he'll die of the heat!!!!!:bigscream

Okay, next invention????:lol

Great idea Debbie :bigups

You live in Florida and your son is worried thats its gonna be hot in NY?
Tell him that we have A/Cs in NY, we smuggle them in from Florida when the snowbirds return :rofl

haha! deb you're always looking for bargains.

o/t but it reminds me of my cousin who was dying for jeans with rips and holes in em. my uncle got a cheese grater (is that how its spelled) and scratched them in. gave them to her and she never knew the diff. its been a year later and she just found out. thing is she still wears em, even after knowing.

im glad u're here to give us a heads up on cheap alternatives.

lol

i still cant believe u did that...

bye,
joy

LOL! That's how my neices and nephews are at this point; spoil them rotten and then leave them (typically with a REALLY loud toy to annoy my in-laws).

JAY, LOL, thanks for the laugh:lol I just know I hear about all these people literally dying of the heat during the summer months because they don't have a/c - my kid was dying in CT end of August - just didn't know how prevelant a/c is there as it's only needed for a short time. See, here in FL we have the a/c going 24/7/12 it seems - I think even when it's "cold" we put it on. we're so "conditioned" down here!;)

JOY, you haven't a clue just how much of a bargain hunter I am - people need something at a good price, they call me to find it - mostly air fares, but other things too. If there's a cheaper price, I'm going to find it!

ROCK, OMG, we MUST be cut from the same cloth! It has to be louder, have more pieces, or be more messy! You win if you can give that to the other ones kids. Too bad I win all the time. It wasn't so bad when it was just my 2 and my sister's oldest one in between my two, but mine are grown - she still has 5 girls ages 8 and under so I'm able to continue on my wonderful gift giving:devil

Even better, I have no kids (yet) so, their revenge isn't even in the works (yet). LOL!

Back to your grit guard... ;)

Here's my HOME MADE GRIT GUARD :D

Wow, I just found out today about the universal grit guard that goes into the 5 gallon bucket. Adams sells it for $10 USD thats I rip for a piece of plastic. I only knew about the square one that comes with the Black Magic wash bucket. So after seeing that price I searched for one on Canadian sites with no luck so I started thinking how can I make one. All I can say is Deb you made everything so much easier. I love the dollar store.

Thanks

I went to the $ store today and found nothing! So then i went to the drugstore and found, you guessed it, nothing. Finally i went to a craft store and found nothing again! So i came up short on this idea! I guess im going to have to go out of town to get mine. Great Idea by the way!!

Greg
