Home-made PDR techniques?

I would stay away from the dry ice. And the glue pullers work but you need to do work to the dent before pulling for most dents. If you care about this car leave the dents until you can afford to fix the dents right. You will save money in the long run.

Careful on the pro you choose.



My Dad got it done and the paint chipped. They applied touchup and wetsanded. Thing is, they applied the wrong color. So now there is no dent but a paint stain instead!

BTW, any fix a dent people here on the east coast of Florida?



My wifes car is a door ding magnet....

Since I'm good with paint touch-up repairs, I would just tell a PDR pro that if they caused a chip, to just leave it as long as the dent is removed and I'd personally take care of the paint.
 
alright, i know a bunch of you are gonna yell at me for this, but use normal ice. my sisters ex boyfriend's dad worked at a pretty high end body shop around that got all the porsches and whatever other high end cars came this way, he told me to leave the car out in the sun on a really hot day and when you are sure that the metal is nice and hot you can put the ice on the dent and due to the sudden change in heat the metal will shrink and pop back into place, this is only to be used on smaller non creased dents . as it can cause paint to crack if the dent is too large or oddly shaped.

I've read about this before and everything I saw says to dismiss it. Have you personay tried this? Exactly how small must the ding be? For example, the size of a half a finger nail? How big can it be before this technique will not work? Sounds like nothing to lose if one can try it on a junk car first.
 
So after a person gets all his/her dents and dings repaired via PDR, has there been something created that will protect future dings from careless people who park next to you and give you those dings?

A guard of some sort for the door panels. I believe most cars already have a horizntal door ding guard on them, still, However, I have many dings on my car despite my door guard.
 
Closest thing is Park Smart's clear magnet door guards. Apparently they don't mar the paint but I'm unsure how 2 sets would cover a sedan and theft still remains an issue.
