Holy zaino zealot blunders batman

So heres the story as short as I can give it.

Last year a friend on campus at my college noticed my car and my "work." He asked how much I charge and if I would do his car, an integra Type R . I said I would. The price issue came up, he wanted exterior only, I said 60 bucks. More than fair for the level of work I do.

Well, after a week I call him up and try to set a date. He tells me he heard of zaino and ordered up that and will be doing it himself. Fine, no skin off my back.

This was leading into summer vacation last summer. We talked a little but for the most part lost contact.

Out of the blue I get a call from him today asking if I wanted to run outside and see his latest detail on the car and give an opinion. I told him where I was parked on campus and I went out, he was there parked and looking over my car.

The purpose of this visit was mainly to show off his 15 coats of zaino on his black R. I look it over, not bad, I could do better but say nothing. Very sterile shine IMO and this was my first time looking at a zainoed car in person.

Well we get to talking and this is the conversation that transpired:

Him: Man I cant stop looking at your car, how many layers of what is it? Its honestly more reflective, wetter, and clearer than my zaino 15 coats.

Me: The process was DACP, VM, EX-P...ONE coat.

Him: Wow, tell me more about EX-P.

Me: Made by a company called poorboys. Its a pure sealant, clear, wet, reflective look as you noticed.

Him: Man, your car is picking up sick reflections on an overcast day.

Me: Your car could look like that too (salesman startup)

Him: Well all I would need is the products you used right

Me: Well, products arent all there is to it, technique is what sets it apart. In addition I have a machine to get rid of the defects you cant touch by hand.

Him: How much for a full car detail this time around

Me: 150

Him: I will be calling soon...

Hopefully he wont flake on me again. I was super stoked after this and quite honestly, I thought all the things he said when I saw his car. EX-P is SUPER reflective. Just thought I would share, I know I have alot of EX-P posts but I am pretty high on this product as of now and am looking forward to experimenting more with it.

EX-P is super reflective, and so is Zaino. As you mentioned, 90% of it all is process, not products.

Everytime I tell a smart guy about what *I* could do to his car, he gets the idea and tries to do it by himself, using supermarket products and dusters. Of course they increase the amount of work I'll have, and also what I'll charge.

Nice move ;)

Hey scott, when you apply EX-P do you use steves PVAs or do you just use a standard foam hand pad? You moisten as instruected as well I assume?

I just use a standard foam pad. I don't moisten it though, didn't see any difference in application vs damp pad or dry pad. PC and finishing pad works great too, but I can hand wax faster.

I dont understand, I am convinced I may have recieved a bad bottle of EX-P. Do you apply in the shade? I am trying to figure the missing variable, with a foam hand pad, dry, EX-P DID NOT spread at all for me. It dried on the paint super fast and then it was like spreading concrete on the paint, didnt budge. Can you give me some more in depth application tips?

I don't doubt your shine is great. No pics so i'm guessing here. But in all honesty, it sounds like this guy doesn't have a clue.

great job getting more money from him though LOL

Well, lets not jump the gun. I was thinking the same thing, my car was more reflective, and the one "without a clue" noticed and stated the same thing. :xyxthumbs

So how long will this EX-P stuff last? How does it compare to 1Z Glanz wax as far as shine and durability?
