Holy Speed 6 Batman!!!

So I was polishing my passenger side door and rear quarter last night (doing it in sections this time) and was using Speed 5 with Green Propel bad and Megs 80. I didn't have very bad swirls at all, and was having trouble getting them all out in one go. After half the door, I got fed up and kicked it to Speed 6 (same pad and product), and it kicked the swirls butt. I got rid of twice the swirls (95%) in about half the time from jumping from SPeed 5 to 6.

Anybody else get this kind of jump from 5 to 6? I've always heard that there wasn't much difference so never tried Speed 6......6 is now my "go to speed".

Yeah, it took me forever to correct stuff on speed 5 and I just figured that was the best the PC could do. I can see me knocking off 1-2 hours on my next detail by using Speed 6.

I am working on a maxima as we speak and I was just saying the exact same thing to myself.... I find myself going over it first with speed 5 and then speed 6

The one time I do correction at lower speeds is with certain 4" pads. I'm having a brain-pause at present, but IIRC it's the orange ones that work best at 4.5-5. At any rate, you'll know it if you experience it, the difference in behavior (vibration/etc.) isn't subtle.

I ended up picking up a cyclo, I will tell you this, speed 6 on a whole car was killing me, its loud and vibrates your arms like crazy, if you aren't a body builder or do this often it can be a huge pain, the handle on the front of the cyclo makes it nice for applying the needed pressure for us little guys haha.

list what type/brand of pad those who posted being @ speed 6.... yes i agree the pc needs a 7 but 6 is where it @ for polish stage (heavy/medium) but i ask becuase of the longevity of the pad delamination.....

speed 6 anytime its on for swirl removal - any compound or polish with abrasives, even 66

speed 5 for pure polishing - FPII, OP, 80

speed 4 for waxing/glazing - RMG, OGOG, 21, liquid waxes

I'm using a green propel pad on speed 6 and it's working fine. My orange propel pad however isn't holding up as well at that speed. I think since it's such a stiffer pad has something to do with it. Looks like I may get to try some of the regluing techniques for the orange pad soon.

What is the OPM (orbits per minute) at each PC setting? I know that the range of the PC is 2500-6000 OPM, but what about settings 2 through 5?

Interesting. I beat the heck out of my orange P2 pads on the PC at speed 6 and alot of pressure. They seem to have held up pretty good.

OT but I love the green P2s w/ the rotary and 106ff.
