Holy Cra*, I always thought MF was BS!

I work 6 days/ week, so I don't have alot of spare time to detail my vehicles. I am getting ready to sell my 2003 Dodge quad Hemi, Greyish metallic color. I have twin 10 month old sons and need an SUV (can refer to my recent post). I stopped by an auto parts store tonight and bought some Meguire's NXT QD spray and some Microfiber towels. I am sure they are cheeep, 5.95 for three. Holy crap! I can't believe I have wasted so many years using house towels and old dish towels for cleaning. Not to mention the NXT QD. I have never used a QD spray. I just wanted to spruce it up for either a trade in or a private sale. I can't believe what it feels like to use one. My wife has some shirts that I am afraid to touch when I do Laundry because it picks up EVERY microimperfection in my fingers. That is the only way I can describe a similar feel.

Are all MF's equal? I love the Meguire's NXT quick detail spray. Amazing smoothness and depth, considering I have not waxed the truck since last summer.

How do you attach PICs on this forum. Would like to send some QD pics.

I had a similar reaction when I first used MF towels, those being some cheap Autozone 12x12" ones. I was blown away by the effectiveness compared to the T-shirts I had previously used. :p

I was blown away yet again when I ordered my first bunch of high-quality MFs from ExcelDetail and tried those for removing wax. They were superior to the cheap MFs just like the cheap MFs were superior to the shirts. So to answer your question, all MFs are NOT the same.



Attach pics by uploading them to your gallery. Click on GALLERY at the top of the page. When you get them uploaded, right-click on the picture-->"copy image location", and then insert it in a thread.
 
Yeah, Paul is right. Not all MFs are the same. I have some plush ones from Microfibertech (similar ones available other places), which work nicely for QD work, and some of the ones from Excel that Paul mentioned for polish and wax removal. Yes, there is a difference in quality. You'll notice that even more so as you wash and dry them a number of times.



The good news is, as you acquire better towels, the older ones work nicely for "grungier" duty, like door jambs, etc. So, you won't be ditching the old ones as you get nicer ones.



I understand what you say about the MF towels "grabbing" the imperfections in your hands and fingers. The plusher towels do the same thing to my own hands. I'm guessing the reason is the fineness of the fibers of the towel, and many towels are made with the fiber end split. Sometimes, it grabs like velcro.



I'm waiting to see pics, too. I think that you will find that you will get your vehicle's looks to levels you had not imagined.



If you're getting a new vehicle, be careful with the dealer. Many dealers do a poor job of pre-delivery prep, often handing you a brand-new vehicle with swirling on the finish. If you're not absolutely about the quality of the work done there, consider taking the vehicle with no prep work done. You probably already have better talents than the people at the dealership.



And, nothing is more fun than taking your own brand-new vehicle, and kicking the looks of it upstairs all by yourself.
 
Thanks for all the input. I will get some PICS up after work today. The vehicle I am considering for purchase is a program vehicle. Likely either a 2005 or 2006 Lincoln Navigator. I am not some "bigshot", but the prices offered are approx. 20k below sticker. In fact, the 05 is about 13k below a new Tahoe LT3. Also, I made the mistake of bringing home a Navigator before letting my wife try out other vehicles. (Good luck on selling her on the Honda Odessy any longer.) Regardless, this Tank (ie Nav) drives like a dream. Will definitely request no dealer prep. And will send some before and after pics. Thanks again for the replies,

Just tried to upload few night pics but kept getting "fatal error.... " alert. Any suggestions? The photo sizes are from 380k to 1.21 jiggawatts?@*%!, I mean 1.21 mb.
 
The error is telling you that your images are too large.

If you have Microsoft Office Picture Manager then you can resize that way. real easy. Or photoshop. I will try to find you a link on how to upload...

give me a min or 2
