Hola! A few newb questions =D

I detail therefore I am
Greetings! Just found the site last night and I must say its great! I have always been into keeping my cars in great shape but not quite to the level some of you do. Well, thats about to change. Now that I have a resource for all the info I need, I think my cars about to start looking alot better :)

My general process for my silver nissan murano has been like this

1. Wash with NTX and a very sh!tty wash mitt
2. Dry with very sh!tty chamois
3. Polish with NTX

Im thinking my new routine is going to be something like this.

1. Wash
2. Clay
3. Cleaner
3. Polish
4. Wax

I have been reading a ton on this site and couple others to try and figure out which products I am going to use and I think I am going to go with Poorboys. Giving that, which PB stuff should I use to do the above? I also have just ordered my PC. Now I also need to know which pads to get. Also, where do you guys order your MF and what do you usually get? I am still a little confused on if and when I should use regular MF or WW.

Thanks for any advice you can offer! I will also keep searching and reading.

Cheers!

for microfiber towels a lot of the sponsers sell em. as for u're process i dont think theres a need for a polish after a cleaner. because thats exactly what a cleaner is. a polish. polishes have different abrasive level from heavy cut to mild. with the exception of chemical cleaners like aio, ect. so u're order for a first timer should be wash/clay/polish/sealant/wax

if u're going for poorboys products i think u should go with

wash
clay
ssr1 or ssr2 (i suggest not to go with ssr2.5 or anything more abrasive since it'll be u're first time and u'll be getting to know u're pc and left over haze from anything mroe abrasive might be a lil more confusing.)
ex or exp. depending on the color of u're car
than topped with nattys for that rich look

hope that answered some

Poorboy's SSR line is very user friendly. I'd suggest something like this if you're gonna go Poorboy's.

Wash & clay
SSR 2.5 w/polishing pad @ speed 6 (You could step it up with a more aggressive pad if you feel the need)
SSR 1 w/polishing pad @ speed 4-5 (as suggested to me by Poorboy :bigups)
-insert a cleaner here if you wish (Pro Polish or Polish with Carnaube)
Sealant (EX, EX-P.....UPP if you wanna stray)
Natty's

Just my suggestion. :)

first welcome to DC:bigups

:yeah

I would go with what was said..except if you use SSR2.5 & or SSR1 there will be no need for the cleaner, as it will already be done:)

edit:

oh yeah ..the mf or WW ..waffle weave for drying and good mf for buffing..

and a quote from someone I really respect" I can't believe people will spend 30-40k on a vehicle and try to save a buck on their mf which is the last item between the products and the finish"

Just my suggestion. :)

So you are saying to use a medium grade swirl remover then a fine grade swirl remover. Followed up by a polish/cleaner (if I desire) then a nice sealant. Then you are saying a sealant, I thought thats what nattys was... Am I missing something?

As far as MF, I am putting an order in to PAC or autogeek today and was gonna order the MF from them. That should do correct?

BTW my murano is silver.

You don't have to do it that way, it's just a suggestion that happens to work for me extremely well. As Poorboy said, you could skip the cleaner polish if you went the SSR1 route. You may even be able to get by just using SSR 2.5 with a polish pad. It really depends on what it looks like to you after each step.

Natty's is a wax, not a sealant. Poorboy's sealants are EX and EX-P (hope I didn't miss one. ;) )

Now you have confused me more than I was...

So it goes like this.

Wash
Clay
swirl remover
cleaner/polish (these are one in the same correct?)
Sealant
Wax

Yeah, that's a pretty basic idea. Wash & clay can be combined into one step (clay as you wash). I also consider swirl removers and chemical cleaners to be "polishes" that accomplish two different tasks. As Poorboy stated earlier, if you went SSR2.5 to get the bad marring out and followed with SSR1, you could skip the whole chemical polish step. On the other hand, if you had minimal marring, you could probably get away with a less abrasive polish such as using SSR1 only OR you could use a chemical polish via the PC and a polish pad. There's really not a certain way to do it or certain products you must use. You gotta find what works for you. I hope I didn't confuse you any more, that's really not my intent, :) just trying to throw out a suggestion of what has worked for me. Sorry for all the confusion.

Nope, makes a bit more sense now! Thanks! I was getting all of the steps confused as I am used to hearing and seeing the "3 Step method".

I am awaiting my order from PAC and we are supposed to get nice weather so I will be sure to post up pics when I am done.

Thanks again for all the help guys!

If you have a Sams Club or Costco near you, go pick up a package of Microfibers. Sams has a 16 pack of MF's for $7.81 and Costco has a 16 pack for $8 and some change. Just a thought. When it comes to microfibers for drying, PAC or Poorboys its self is the place to get waffle weave microfibers. They are awesome for drying! Good luck!

Steve,

The SSR 2.5 is similar to Meg #80? Man, I always use AIO after SSR or M#80. So, you think is ok with #80 or SSR with out using any cleaner and just dive into my LSP product?
