A little introduction I suppose, I'll try to keep it short.

Growing up I've played piano, cello, and contra bass, which I've played since grade 9 now. The high school that I went to is small, maybe 7-800 kids for grades 6-12, but managed to offer Orchestra as a class. AFAIK it is still the only high school in Manitoba with an orchestra and one of a few in all of Western Canada.

Looking back I consider myself pretty lucky to have had this opportunity and I continued playing after high school, with a bass that is a rental from my old school. I play with the Winnipeg Pops Orchestra now, which is all volunteers, and we play a local conservatory and some retirement and seniors homes. Some of the people get really stoked and it's nice seeing them enjoy the music.

This lass has taken a few lumps over the years I guess, as kids from around 12 to 18 would use it if need be. I have a concert tomorrow that's become an annual thing, our orchestra plays with the high school orchestra, which is fun, so I figured I would clean it up a bit.

The wood was mostly dust, although there was a few parts that had what looked like drops of water, maybe slight water etching? Anyways, the process:

Wiped down with PUR filtered water from our fridge and a MF.

Wood: FK 20 and a foam applicator.

Brass/Stainless: WG Aluminum Concour Polish, WG Concours Metal Sealant

Like I said, mostly dusty

Hope you guys enjoyed, I thought it was something different. I've seen washers and dryers done but not a bass yet.

Now, off to practice :chuckle:

Outstanding! I've played electric for many years, occasionally wrestling with the upright, and I love the look of a detailed instrument. :D Enjoy your practice...
