Hmmm... Matt Black Paintwork?

I've been asked to detail a modified car, which is matt black in colour - something that i've not tackled before.

Has anyone worked on a car like this? If so, what products would you recommend?

Also, the wheels are matt black in finish. What products should be used on these. I'd like to use something like PB's wheel sealer - would this be okay, and should anything go onto the wheels first. On normal wheels, i clay them, then use AIO, before applying the wheel sealer...

I was told spray and wipe was made for the flat blacks out in the street rod class.. I know when i was cleaning up a camaro with a flat black dash it worked VERY nicly

Okay, so would you suggest using spray and wipe alone on the paint?

Mad iX - if you've used AIO on matt black before, i'll probably stick to AIO on the wheels, followed by the PB's Wheel Sealer.

Would regular hand products, such as VMG be okay to use one the paint, followed by AIO?

That's what i would do just spray and wipe... if your going to try a cleaner sealent route i would ask first and try a test spot.. I'm not sure if it would give a gloss that the owner might not want

Yup, i agree. I'm going to go Spray and Wipe only on the body work, and i'm undecided about the wheels - i sprayed myself some matt black onto a piece of mild steel so i could try products out, and even the wheel sealer seems to leave a shine of sorts. I may just have to clean the wheels and nothing more...
