Hmm... Mr. Clean AutoDry soap.

How "harsh" is the Mr. Clean AutoDry soap? I absolutely love using the AutoDry system, but will it remove my Zaino wax? I'm having mixed feelings about this soap. I notice when I'm washing my car with it, water sheets off my car. Anyone have an opinion on this?

I think this soap is safe, like other car wash soaps and contains a fair amount of slick surfactant to make the water sheet more.
 
The soap is formulated to sheet like that to aid in the spot free drying; apparently it is a polymer soap that treats the surface so that the water sheets. The thing that bothered me about the system was how filthy (almost black) my wash mitt became when using that soap. I'm not sure what causes that, but I have seen other people mention the same thing. To answer your question I don't *think* it will strip off your Zaino, but I just don't care for the soap.



I really only bought it for the filtered rinse, but I tried using the soap a couple of times. It then got to the point that if I used that system at all, it was just for the spot free filtered rinse. Then I realized that if I used the "sheeting" method to rinse, that I could dry it a lot faster than messing with that thing.



If it works for you that is great, but I feel a lot better using my foam gun, a trusted soap, and a rinse bucket w/grit guard for my sheepskin mitt.
 
I don't like the AutoDry. I threw mine away after 5 uses. The filters don't last long and the spray nozzles really restrict water flow. Plus I heard that the AutoDry soap has alcohol in it which is what helps it dry so quick. Alcohol strips wax.

I threw mine aways about about the same. The spotfree rinse was a pain in the a&% and slow. I am having much more success using a leaf blower for getting the water off.



AND

Yes it does leave a flim on the cars when I used it.
 
I'm with the guys on this one. I bought my Autodry last summer because I hated drying...but after my 3rd or 4th wash, I started noticing this really nasty red film/residue all over my car. I asked their customer service and they just said to keep washing it, but it always appeared.



Next wash I busted out some GC wash and voila, no more red film...and with the help of proper rinsing technique and a few WW's and MF's, drying isn't too much of a pain anymore.



I didn't throw mine out though, I still use it on our POS beater vans. :sigh:
 
I had heard once that the soap was similar to dishwasher soap and did leave a coating to sheet water.
 
The Mr. Clean soap is really acidic.



I've seen a litmus paper test on it, compared to other car wash soaps, it is very harsh.



It strips Meg's #26, NXT, 3M ShowCar, Natty's Blue and EXP, all in about 2-3 washes.
 
Just don't use the soap, but the filter resin is actually proven technology thats been used for over 40 years. Yes, it works if you know how to use it properly. I use my to for quick jet gun/no wipe rinse downs and to make my own spotless Quik Detailer with ONR. Its amazing !!!
 
I threw mine away after it's first use. I just didn't like anything about it. I can do much, much better by hand.
 
strips your wax better than dawn. Good for dirty wheels only....I made the mistake of using it, stripped off a good coat of SSII I had.
 
Ya don't wan'a mix it with NXT soap.

Had some NXT left in my pressure washer foam canon bottle and I added some of the Mr Clean soap to waste on the windows of my house.......made a sticky, sticky mess.
