Hillclimb Track Fun

As much as we all like to clean the cars , driving is what they are meant for. Took my Renault Clio 182 for its first taste of track action recently. My mate sent me the CD with the images from the hillclimb track at Prescott near Cheltenham a few weeks ago. Was good fun, nice an twisty so suited the 182. Narrow and windy so mostly 2/3 gear all the way up. (Ist out the hairpin!)

Beautifull pictures rich, looks like you picked a nice day with the weather.

Looks like fun :woot2:

Weather was top, it was the the PSOOC National day- Pugfest. Rob took some great pics I am well chuffed with them.

It was fun for sure.

Rich, nice lookin' car. Let your friend know that those are nice pictures (especially in the shade when the shutter speed was slower and he got the nice motion blur of the wheels).

Cheers Jeff, He took loads and thoses where the best off the bunch. I will let him know. It is a hard place to take pictures due to the sun and the tress. He was shotting with there new 350d which he is well chuffed with, I think the results are great.

I have a Canon 20D and a 100-400L Image Stabilized lens, which has a setting in the Image Stabilization system that is particularly well suited for motion blur shots of cars in motion. If he really likes track shots, he should consider the 100-400L IS.

I like using it for airshows, but up to now I've wanted to be ~in~ the car, rather than outside it. :)

It was a non competitive club day, so no timing or helmets. Its really short and twisty all mostly 2nd gear with a bit of 3rd and tight 1st gear bits. I didnt push to hard due to a new car with only 1k miles. I wasnt looking at the speeds to be honest just the armco and drops!

Cool pics Rich, doing a track day myself in late September this year, need to buy a helmet first though.

BTW, are you going to the Renault Sport race weekend at Donnington 11/12 Sep ?

Nice one Nick, want to get mine on track proper when there is a few more miles on her.

Yes either or both days not sure yet! Got my tickets through, you going up?

Yeah, after missing out last year, I made sure that I remembered this time round - should be a good day/s....

Cheers Sean. Was a real blast given me the real track bug. While queing up people where commenting on how clean it looked, it was nice to show them I like to drive as well as clean.

Nick- I didnt goor hera about last year is it a good weekend?

So my boss at work tells me, it's good fun. Apparently, the Renault F1 cars are there on track too demonstrating round the circuit.

Not bad for free entry and donnington isnt that far from me really.

Not only does your car look amazing, but looks like you had tons of fun. You've got it right about driving.

So what process did you use to detail your exterior?

What were your driving impressions on the climb?

:D

Sounds a good day then Nick.

Justin - The hill was good fun, tight and twisy, more off a sprint, much more about handling than out right speed. I had a few passenger runs in proper rack and sprint prepared cars that belonged to my freinds that showed me how I should drive.

The car was prepped with AG SRP, Clearkote RMG, YCW, Poorboys EX, and Souveran
