hey all. just about to make a purchase for some products. i have been seeking the perfect finish on my '97 MB desert silver by PC for awhile now. nothing seems to get rid of all the scratches that are in the paint. the cobwebbing seems to diminish with the products i have used in the past, but those darn scratches :hairpull i have tried PB SSR2, 3M Compound with cutting and polishing pads on speeds 4,5,6...nothing. this must be some hard clear! anyway, i was reading through all the past product post and was thinking of getting either some Menerza 106ff or IP, OC, Presta Light Cut, LC CSS 4 or 5 in pads. then i was reading that an autopian suggested using Hi Temp EC with a polishing pad by PC. i thought this was for rotary use only. just wanted to get more opinions on this and other suggestions on what and how (which size and color pad and speeds) to apply. i recieved my order of Opti-Seal so i am thinking of using that as my LSP. sorry for the long post.:D

I have used EC/OP mix with a PC on some softer clears, IMO its not going to work via PC on a harder clear. The PC just does not have the power/heat for the product to work on harder clears.

While I don't like trying to do rotary work with a PC, IME the H-T EC, used with aggressive 4" pads, will do a lot by PC. The 4" pads are the only way I can effect significant correction via PC.

Hard clear: my Audis have *very* hard clear. I've been able to remove fairly deep fingernail scratches from behind the door handles *by hand*. Yeah, it took a while, and I don't mean just 30 minutes for each 1' x3" area ;) But I did it. I've removed RIDS on the same cars with the PC/4". Just takes time. I've decided to quit working on some RIDS for fear of thinning the clear..the PC/4" can do enough work that you need to be a little careful with it.

thanks guys. which 4" pads do you recommend? the CCS or regular spot buff?

Heh heh, I'm probably the wrong guy to ask as I still just use the Cyclo brand pads that I've been using forever.
