I tried out both the Porter Cable and Griots orbitals and decided to go with the Griots for three reasons:
1. The Griots has a different design which keeps the center of the pad area from ever getting hot. It dissipates heat much better.
2. The Griots has a much better handle so it is easier to use when stretching a bit to do the hood of a SUV.
3. The amount of vibration that comes through it is about 1/2 of the PC 7424, yet it is just as powerful.
With that said, I still think the PC is a great product and it is certainly more versatile given all of the 3rd party attachments made for it. However, for my use I'm happy with the Griots.
I haven't used any Poorboys products yet, but I'm sure after hanging out here for a while I will. I have heard good things about some of their products though.
One funny note about Poorboys. When I first heard someone say that they were using Poorboys products I thought they meant PepBoys. I thought, what kind of jack ass who claims to be a detailer would be using PepBoys brand stuff on their Porsche!!!!
