Just finished a Factory Five Cobra. The paint was done by a very talented painter. Colors are Black for the field and the stripes are HOK Black Gold. The pain work is flawless and the depth of the black is insane. I signed up here after ordering the Poor Boys swirl remover and protection kit along with the CH orbital and Lake pads. The paint is about three weeks old now. I expected that this car would be very hard to keep as perfect as it was coming out of paint. I am going to be asking lots of questions and expect to be a busy SOB keeping up with the finish. I already have some small swirls and a few surface mars from completing the stuff on the car after paint. Here we go.

There she is. This thing has been mucho work. We did everything in terms of fabrication here in our shop. The only outsource was the paint and body. I was HAPPY to send that out!

I asked Ken (The Painter) regarding what I can and cant do as of now. I ended up hand working the entire car with the Poor Boys SR-1. I am not easily impressed.

Holy Hickorydick Howdy Doody! Very very nice product.

I'll do a once over with the Final Inspection in an hour or so and we are about as good as we can do for now. The finish is incredible. My only left overs are small transfer marrs where the roll bar gaskets were riding the paint. I was able to get them about 50% gone with the SR-1. The rest will have to wait another month.

If this is an indication of the performance levels of the Poor Boys products, I guess I am about to be an ex 3M customer.

I appreciate all the instant assistance. The cover comment is likely right on the money as well. I'm a little stuck as to what the hell to do with it. The shop is a bit dusty as we live in a pretty rural area.

If I tell my wife that I need to build another garage, she may attempt to render me metro or worse yet make me renew my vows or some crazy thing.

Thanks to ya'all for the help and instant answers.

Yeah, the PB stuff is very good.

Is the marring from the gaskets dirt/rubber transfer or scratch/swirl/marring?
If it's darkish or rubberized, I might try alcohol first then re-polish and see what happens.
As far as the car cover....... I hate me. No matter how good it is and how careful you are, it's gonna mar it. If it were me, I might try and get some big bed sheets and washe me, then cover it with them. Just use bricks or something to hold it down on the floor.

Ronkh:

The rubber marks are pretty much a transfer. The area around them (there are 6 tubes that penetrate the body) Has a few actual factual marring locations where the defect in the clear coat can be felt like a minor scratch or displacement. The clear was only about a week out of the booth when I had to install the tubes. I even masked the area off prior to installing the suckers and was super careful. I have a new respect for those that work these high end finishes.

When the CC is fully cured, I'll post some photographs of the specific area and beg some opinions on how to best handle them.

I agree on the cover deal. It seems like a dead end road for a black show finish. Seems like it needs to be encased in some way that wont touch the finish. :wall
