Hi everyone

Black Altima

Why did I buy black?
Hi everybody,

I just picked up my new car, and I was hopeing to find some info as to how to keep it looking it best.

I have done some searching on the net and, names like meguair's, mothers, and turtle wax always come up, but I am looking for something more.
I would like something that would keep my car looking like it did when I got it out of the showroom 2 weeks ago.

I was hoping that you folks could suggest something a bit more professional grade. It doesn't bother if I have to spend a little more. I have done some reading, but there seems to be so much to choose from.

Do I have to clay and polish, the car like I said was picked up from the dealership only about 2 weeks ago, and can these things be done with my Sear buffer.

Sorry for all the questions, I guess I have more reading to do

Thanks in advance

Welcom to DC. I've said it before but finding and posting on this site is the first step to keeping your car in showroom condition and maybe (actually quite possibly) even better.

Clay is a must for new cars. Sure they are brand new but there is still contanimation on the paint, which over time, can hurt the longevity and appearance of the paint. Make sure you read how to properly clay a car- Lots of lube and work on a clean surface.

Polish varies from car to car. When I polish I usually use my Porter Cable 7424 Random Orbital Buffer (http://www.detailcity.com/porter-cable-7424-dual-action-polisher.html). This is very different from your Sears buffer which I don't recomend you using. The only thing that it would be OK for is to apply a wax or sealant which you could do by hand or with the Porter Cable.

You may or may not need a polish but I'd recomend using a light polish such as Poorboys SSR1, Wolfgang Swirl Remover, or Optimum Polish. All of our sponsors here have the products to produce the best results, IMO. There are hundreds of polishes but a few hours of reading previous topics on this site you'll figure out the popular ones.

Sorry this has gotten so long... hopefully you haven't gotten too confused or bored. Don't be afraid to ask any questions. Good luck and welcome to DC.
