I have used it for some cleaning jobs, just not on paint surfaces. In fairness, with a Sea Sponge, before using it, you have to pick out with your fingers, foreign objects that feel like mini-rocks or stones that WILL definitely mar your paint! I think the grout sponge is a great idea and appreciate you mentioning it...I just wanted people to be sure they get the same model that's working for you.

Derek, same exact ones I bought today. I bought 3 of them and used one today. Unfortunately it was cloudy. But by the looks of it, the Grouts work pretty good. I will use them again in the sun to see what kind of cleaning/marring it does. I didn't want to use the Halogens today..:doh
 
I've been using the exact same exact sponge from Advance Auto as violentveedub posted. IMO it works well whether I'm doing a conventional shampoo wash or ONR. As an overall wash tool I do give it :bigups.



My local Home Depot is always MIA on the grout sponge front :wall , maybe someday...
 
This is kinda funny. I installed ceramic tile for 15 years until I started having knee pads. I use to buy these 100 at a time from a supplier. I think I still have 20 or so laying around never used from my last order. I never thought they would work for washing so I never tried. Guess I'm going to give em try and see how they work. Thanks
 
I'll probably pick up a couple next time I'm there.. Saw them last time, but couldn't remember hearing about the packaged ones being okay or not.. They didn't have any of the loose ones.
 
the only issue I've found with square grout sponges is an inability to get into small crevices. I find mitts work better for that.

That's a huge understatement! You can add atleast another zero (0) to your number. I've been buying HD grout sponges for over 10 years. Here's an example of one that started out just for wash duties, then digressed into shampooing and now is only used for wheel wheels/engines. Have you ever seen one this worn out before?

Well the wife and I are using them right now to wash walls from my Waffle Weave fire incident and once you get them wet they are much much softer.

So I just had to see what all the rave is about. Took a trip to local home depot, and just like spoiledman said...

They have the ones SpoiledMan uses, and "double sided" ones where one side is a more abrasive surface for scrubbing, and the other side the typical super soft sponge. Maybe i'll try the double sided one in the future for removing bugs and see how aggressive it is on paint. But for now I just got the super soft ones.



I'll try em out this weekend :)
