Though I understand the rationale, this is a really annoying feature. Trying to get some input on products to order this afternoon. Spent 15-20 minutes trying to determine whether the problem was with Firefox / IE / firewall before googling the issue and finding this thread. Ugh.
A suggestion: Other forums subject to being targeted by spammers have successes with the "enter the numbers / letters depicted in the image" method used by ticketmaster and others. Might be worth considering.
