Here we go again...canopies/pop up tents. EZ UP, Caravan, Quik Shade etc.

I know this has been covered over and over, but it's 2013 and let's face it, manufacturers change their product whether it be for the better or worse.

I currently have an EZ Up 10x10 slant leg, which doesn't cover much. Naturally, I am looking to improve.

Caravan 10 x 10 kit - Caravan 10 x 10 Displayshade Canopy Value Package + 4 Sidewalls

Quik Shade 10 x 10 w/ 1x panel - Quik Shade 10 ft. x 10 ft. Commercial White Instant Patio Canopy with Wall Panel-157428 at The Home Depot

Shelter Logic 12 x 12 - ShelterLogic Pro Series Straight-Leg Pop Up Canopy Tent - 12 Foot x 12 Foot

Quik Shade 12 x 12 - Quik Shade Weekender 144 Instant Canopy Tent - 12 x 12

Quick Shade 12 x 12 - Quik Shade 12 ft. x 12 ft. Green Patio Canopy-155812 at The Home Depot

Garden Treasures 12 x 12 - Shop Garden Treasures 12-ft W x 12-ft L Square White Steel Pop-Up Canopy at Lowes.com

Lots of questions come to mind...

1. Do I need a 10 x 10 straight leg or 12 x 12? Can 1 person even set up a 12 x 12 easily?

2. Do I even need panels? 1 or 4?

3. I've heard mixed reviews on Quik Shade and Shelter logic, but have they improved in 2013?

4. Has anyone ever used the 12 x 12 Garden Treasure or just the brand? Any good?

So many choices, so many mixed reviews and I am confused on which to buy and what exactly I need. :(

I used to do track days all the time, everyone that had EZ-UPs was very happy. I actually saw two different people go APE-S and turn their Quik Shades into a pretzel. I think I bought my EZ-UP in 2004, still serving me well. though I might need new fabric soon.

Yeah, the EZ is great quality. The 10x10 slant leg I am using is still running strong after a few years of use from my step mother and her business. I would love to buy a 12 x 12 EZ Up, but they run in the $500 range.

Caravan seems like they have a good quality product, but once you step out from the 10 x 10 straight leg and into the 12 x 12, they hit the $500 range as well compared to the $200 range for the Quik Shade/Shelter Logic. Hoping someone has had a good experience with either or before I take my chances with the 12 x 12 Shelter Logic. The 10 x 10 Caravan with 4 panels is tempting too though...

I have one of those 12x12 EZUps, bought at Academy last year for 99$. Price was so good I bought two of them. The first one I had I loaned to my knucklehead brother in law who, while taking it down, caught it in a bind and instead of backing off, went ahead and folded it up, breaking two of the tent supports. I saved it for parts.

Wow, Dan...thank you very much for that find. It appears to be straight leg too. Thank you!

Ah man, that's no bueno. Only good thing is that $99 isn't too bad from what I have seen to replace.
