Here is a thought on cleaning microfibers...

Wouldn't recommend any crystal/particle laundry detergent even if they are cheaper. Use a "free" detergent, no dyes/perfumes/additives and keep it simple with the right amount of cleaner.

Autogeek always has a discount code AUTOPIA for 10% off. As far as me using powdered Tide in the washing machine, it always dissolves very quickly. IMO the powdered seems to be stronger than the liquid. Tide is great for cleaning up oil spills. And if you clean by hand the orginal Dawn is well known for oil removal. In fact the wildlife departments use it to clean oil off of birds exposed to oil spills.

I keep a dedicated bucket in the laundry room for MF items. I keep it about half full of water - just to keep anything from hardening. I usually have enough to justify a weekly load. If it had to go 2 weeks, I'd add an ounce of one of the MF cleaner fluids to the bucket (I use Griot's - fantastic results)

A local detailer told me that she does not let the MF items get 100% dry in the dryer - she takes them out and hangs them on a line inside - the theory being that if they get too dry too soon, they can build up static electricity which can attract dust. I have a rack in our laundry room for this purpose. Dryer heat over time will wear down any fiber or fabric.
As I was told you want the static electricity so it attracts dust and debris.

I use a liquid "free type" detergent in the washing machine, and throw in some vinegar too (per the post below, in the rinse cycle :) ). I thought everybody knew the vinegar trick?

I also set the dryer to cool and medium dry.

Vinegar is ok in the rinse cycle. Your wash is high in pH. If you add vinegar in the wash cycle (low in pH) it will retard the detergents from doing there job. Vinegar in rinse cycle.

I think a common mistake is that somone adds more detergent so it will get cleaner. This does not work unless you can rinse the soap out of the towels. MF towels like to "keep" stuff including detergent so use as little detergent as possible and add a second rinse. There is a point where more soap is bad.
