Help with Poorboys

Hi all, I was wondering if you could help me out. I have been detailing for a while and have been using Zaino for some time. However, what I don't like about Zaino is the multiple coats and waiting in between coats to get great results. In addition, they don't seem to have a very complete line as Poorboys does and I want everything I use to work with each other without worrying about anything. Therefore, I am thinking of switching to Poorboys. I have used Poorboys SSR2.5 and SSR1 and have had great results. Was wondering what other Poorboys products do you recommend. There seems to be so many products Poorboys has that it makes it somewhat difficult to know what each product does well (such as EX or EX-P, which one is better or do i even need them). Currently I have a Dark Gray Metallic, a Silvermist, and a Smokey Caramel colored vehicles. What products do you recommend that won't cost me a fortune!!! Is there any articles or other websites that will tell me what exactly each product does as well as some form of direction? Sorry for asking so many questions. Hopefully some one can help. Thanks!

Jeff

Jeff,

I switched from Zaino and have not looked back. If you are going to use a Sealant such as EX or EX-P, I would recommend getting ProPolish. If your going with a wax then you can use PwC as a one step product or before Natty's. I would stick to the Blue products for dark and metalic cars. All of the products work great and I've had better than expected results with all of them.

Dave,

I would like to continue using a sealant for its supposed durability. I detail each vehicle twice a year. What I also hate about Zaino is that you have to mix up ZF-X with Z2-Pro (at least for the first coat), so if you are are almost out with your mix, yet still have a panel to finish, you can't unless you mix more. By the way, do any of the PoorBoys products leave any kind of residue. On waxes, I get the white residue on trim. For Zaino, you don't get that affect.

I like spray and wipe. IT IS awesome stuff. I also use EX-P ALOT. I 've even used it to clean up residue on glass after using a glass cleaner. I have just about everything that is available through Poorboys, and I have never been disappointed.

Yeah, I like the idea of Spray and Wipe. Need to get some before winter comes. Thats one of the reasons I would like to switch out to Poorboys, but need to finish my supply of Zaino. Hate to waste it.

Like KILLERFOX I use PB for about everything I have also used Zaino...The PB lineup is a great one and you will love it.

Jeff,

You do get the white residue with PB stuff, but it usually wipes off as easy at is went on. I like to tape off the trim with painters masking tape, makes cleanup much easier. You can also put your dressing on the exterior trim before your LSP and that will make the residue easier to remove after.

Thats good to here. As long as it doesn't get the wax residue like you get at the store where for some reason it finds its way into little crevises that are difficult to get at. As long as it residues like Zaino, I'm happy!

I have recently been using the PB line up for my bits and on full details where I can justify the spend over my autosmart stock.
I can recomend both of the trim products QD plus spray and gloss there polish and the ssr line up.
Iam currently using there products to up sell on the better cars that I maintain.
Having had great results with them so far Im sure that all there products do what they say.
Good Luck.

Great reassurance that Poorboys are quality products. Any chance someone could provide me with a shopping list of what I should get. I'd like to get stuff that will give a great, durable, wet shine. I've seen some people apply sealant and then apply Natty's over it to give it a deep wet shine. Thanks!

Jeff

How does this list look:

My must have?
Poorboy's Super Slick & Suds Concentrated Car Wash
Poorboy's Spray & Wipe Waterless Wash
Poorboy's SSR 2.5, already have SSR1, running low on SSR 2.5
Poorboy's EX-P Pure Sealant
Poorboy's Natty’s Paste Wax – BLUE

What I wish I could get:
Poorboy's QD+ Quick Detailer
Poorboy's Bold N Bright Tire Dressing

Looks good for my needs? Also, will I have any layering issues if I use EX-P, then apply Natty's and then apply EX-P later down the road (say 3months) without having to do a lot of prep work? Also, does Natty's and EX-P stain plastic trim? Don't really want to tape all the black textured plastic I have on my TrailBlazer. Thanks.

to answer u're question. no. they dont stain trim. but they dont make it shine either. getting a bit on trim wont hurt but getting heavy amounts on textured plastic will leave the plastic lightened and need to be re dressed. incase u werent planning on doing so.

my only suggestion is for u to get a hold of spray and gloss soon! its great on windows, paint, and even trim. it sorta maintains the rubber/plastic looking dark and rich.

As far as a must have list of only using the Poorboys line-up I would get:

SSR1 and SSR2.5
EX-P
PwC
Natty's, either the regular or the blue.
Trim Restorer
S&W
S&G
Wheel Sealant

jauto , I would recommend you do a few coats of Ex-P 12-24 hours apart . 2-3 layers and it will be good to go at least 3 months , most likely longer though if you apply it right .
then do your natty's and layer that all you want to .
The ex-P polymers bond to each other and it looks much better after 2-3 coats .
If you're going to use ex-P you really do want to polish with professional polish ( without carnuba ) first though for best shine .
