Help with my swirls please!

Alright I am stuck once again =\ I could not get to finish hologram free with the rotary with a black pad and 85rd =\ (I suck) so I busted out the PC and using the black pad with 85rd and working it in for a good amount time. For some reason when I go to wipe off the residue it just smears..... even with QD or IPA I am lost at what to do and I have been up since 6pm yesterday and have not slept yet. I really am trying to get my car back to decent condition so I can drive her to pick up my wife on Sunday. Help please anyone.

I tried finishing with rotary and get only holograms so I went with the PC any advice.

well I am lost at words I have no idea what is smearing when I go to wipe off and have no idea what to do, to get my car back to what it use to be. My guess is I need to find someone and pay to have it return to beauty.

I can't finish out 100% by rotary either, and I figure that if guys like Mike Phillips finish with a PC/etc. then I'm in good company :D

This might not be the answer you're looking for, but I'd simply switch to a different product and finish by PC. With all the good stuff on the market these days I won't struggle to "master" (scare-quotes intentional) something that doesn't work for me...this isn't some character-building exercise, it's all about making the car look good.

FWIW, 1Z High Gloss is one *VERY* user-friendly product. If I were in your shoes (and in my shop with my stuff), I'd see if that was potent enough. If not I'd use their Pasta Intensiv with a fairly mild pad and then follow up with the High Gloss. I recommend 1Z stuff all the time, in great part because it's so user-friendly; that's what I used when faced with stubborn holograms on my DenaliXL (left by a *VERY* good pro who had used Menzerna...not a slam, just a coincidental observation).

If it's not feasible to order new stuff I understand, but it sounds like you're getting sorta frustrated (and I don't blame you).

your all right i think your working the polish a little to long ... Try this spritz with water when polish goes translucent work a little more cut speed down to 3 on the pc but before it dries spray with Ipa and wipe off REMEMBER less it more with polish

good luck ... This works for me on my z06

I will try but what do I do about removing the current smearing now? Every time I try to use less product it smears. This is only on my hood for some reason. Does temperature have anything to do with polishing? It is only in the 30's here and inside my garage.

Yes I am very frustrated to the point I am willing to have someone fix my mistakes. I sometimes wish I would have went with the flex 3401 instead of my makita. I am still considering buying the 3401 and selling my 1 time used Makita. If I can get rid of this smearing then everything will be fine but no matter what I do it will not come off.

I do not mind even starting over and doing this over my 4days off from the Military for thanksgiving. My car is black and looks so horrible.

Accumulator I will give 1z a try as I have read many post with you talking about it. 1z IP which pad should I go with orange @ a speed 6 with my PC? and 1z HG white pad @ 6speed? Now should I use only 3 pea sized dots for product use?

I might buy the flex is this a stupid idea? I am beyond frustrated and very upset @ myself.

ldrop i pm'ed you. i feel you frustration but please try and be patient. follow some of the suggestions like lubricating the pad to keep the polish from drying out to quick it might help, also try using a qd to remove the polish residue. hope this helps.

I think temps may very well be a big factor. I did a Toyota truck this weekend and it just needed a little polishing. OK, so I bring out the Menz FFII and white pad, fire up the Flex and it's smear city, I cut way back on the amount, tried again - better but not the FFII experience I'm use to. I was working in a heated garage but the temps were only low 60's and the paint was cold from a wash outside. I switched to Menz 203, new white pad, cut way back on amount, added a dab of QD and it worked.
