Help with Liquid Wax Please. "I ain't got no skills"

Gentlemen,
I used some Meg's Quik Wax yesterday after my wash and the end result was very streaky. I'm sure it's "operator head space and timing" so can someone please let me know what I'm doing wrong?
I sprayed it on one section at a time. Spread with one micro fiber cloth, and lightly dried with another. Am I using too much product? If I lightly mist the section, the damp cloth I use first pretty much dries the section. Is that enough product?

If you think you are using too much, you are. The idea is to apply as thin and even layer. Your eyes will fool you in wanting to apply more since you think it must be clearly visible.

Here are some things to consider:

  • Spray in a sweeping motion to get more even dispersion
  • Use two towels - one you will use that will get "primed" (loaded with the product) so you will actually need to use less as you go and then a separate one to dry. You may need to use additional drying towels. If you use one for both, the towel can get unevenly saturated (due to the way sprayers disperse the product) and then you get transfer back causing the streaking,
  • When drying, fold the towel properly, use a light touch, so you do not get transfer back. You can flip or refold the towel to a dry side. I find some waxes and detail spray benefit from a few seconds dwell time (start to dry slightly) so easier to remove.
 
When you think about the actual film thickness of the products we apply it's probably unmeasurable meaning it's so thin it's at the microscopic level.

Most of us, including yours truly, apply way too much spray wax product and what I've discovered is that a couple of light sprays on the microfiber towel instead of the panel itself yields a much better outcome....

Using two towels is another great way to quickly buff the finish once the spray wax has been applied in this manor...
 
Thanks fellas I'll give it a shot. My results yesterday were laughable. All that work and every time I look at it I say "damn that looks like ass."
 
With Quick Wax I found that I need SHADE! When it streaks it was mostly because the temperature of the autobody was too high. (Though not a wax, Mother's Showtime Instant Detailer did the same). For a quick fix how about?:

1) Shade
2) Use minimal product, as has been recommended
3) Make sure microfiber is clean with no detergent nor fabric softner residue.

For a better fix:

Get a better Spray Wax. Mother's California Gold SprayWax does not streak in my experience. Neither does Pinnacle Crystal Mist (I realize it is not a wax). There are likely many more!

I have learned to spray the microfiber, not the car - I use the wolfgang spritz a lot but also the QW. I find once I load the rag with 4 or 5 sprays, I can get half of a BMW 7 series sized car and almost all of the Z4 with amazing results:
Just done 10 min ago with 5 spray pumps after glossworkz wash:
