help with compiling amature shopping list

My birthday is coming up and i asked my mom to buy me a PC7336 from lowes. Since i'm going to get a PC i want better products than what i have now which are otc. therefore i compiled a list and i hope you guys can chime in and choose off of the list or add your own suggestions. but since i'm a teenager i can't afford the fancier stuff like pinnacle or p21s. also i have a white car that has minor swirling so i would like products that would produce something you guys would call a glow. here's the list:

polish: poorboy's ssr2.5(can you skip a finer polish using this?), menzerna IP and FP2 (is it hard to use for someone who is unexperienced?), poorboy's professional polish, poorboy's pwc.



cleaner:AIO, others?



sealant: ex-p, upp, meg's#20,Klasses sg



wax:natty's, s100, meg's #16



pads: sonus da polisher pad kit, autogeek's kit http://autogeek.net/bf100.html or should i just get them depending on what pads are better (if so tell me what pads i need)



when you guys give your opinions of the products can you tell me what speed you will use them at. and just to repeat myself, you guys can suggest other products instead of the ones from the top. as long as it is withing the budget of a 16 year old working a part time job. also is there a discount code for these stores autogeek, autopia, classic motoring, and 4* premium autocare? thanks!
 
Good start. You'll probably want some towels, tools, brushes, things like that. Autogeek has a good selection.



Most products used with the PC are pretty easy to master. After you've found whatever tricks each product needs, it's a cinch.



The Sonus pad kit is excellent. I didn't have a single problem with them and the backing plate that they come with can be used again with alot of other pads (requiring a 5-6" backing plate).



Join the ABC (autopia buyer's club) for coupon codes. I'm not sure of any for AutoGeek or CMA.

SSR2.5 is great. You may or may not be able to get away with using just using this and no finer polish. I dont think you will need it, but if you wanted, you could go with SSR1 as your fine polish. Menzerna FP2 would be a great... final polish as well :D

I would think that IP and SSR2.5 would be kinda redundant, but I havnet used IP. This is just my thought and look for other replys.





As for Poorboys Professional Polish (PP) and PwC... they are both the same product except one has canauba wax in it. AIO is also very similar to these products. I would go with AIO for general use. Each one has more specialized uses that it works better with than the others, but AIO is a good starting point.





You cant really go wrong with any of the sealants you listed. Klasse SG might be a bit more difficult to use (do some reading on it) but it will give you great looks still. They are all good.



For your waxes, all of those choices are good. Natty's has had a lot of good reviews on white, but I dont think it has as much durability as something like #16. It depends on what your looking for.





As for pads... I have not used the Sonus pads myself so I dont know. I tried some of the LC pads as seen on that AutoGeek link and I didnt like them. The polishing pad (white) was a bit too dense and heavy for me (compared to the Meguiar's polishing pad), and I damaged the cutting (orange) pads with the backing plate due to the curve in the pad. I am now using Meguiar's pads with my PC and I like them a lot. I would reccomend those instead.

No not hard but you need to chose the right pad. White for IP and finishing pad for FPII.



cleaner- AIO or s100 at harley dealer is same as p21s, and yes the wax is same too, so you can afford it if your buying Natty's. S100 and Nattys same price, about 15 bucks.



Sealant: Out of your list SG.
 
*MY* suggestion from my use of IP and FPII would be orange cut pad for IP and white polishing pad for FPII. I find that indeed the Poorboys product line is a little more user friendly. Either polishes are great choices.



If you dont want to get the Menzerna twins, then SSR2.5 would replace IP and SSR1 or the pro-polish will replace the FPII imo.



I think AIO is a must too :)



For wax: Get a tin of Meg's # 16, then a good beauty wax like s100 or natty's. The tin of #16 will last forever, i just applied a coat to my car and looking in the tin, it doesnt even look like i have used ANY.
 
You have to get Four Star Ultimate Paint Protection. Excellent product!

Poorboy's Professional Polish is not the same thing as Polish with Carnauba. PP is a pure polish--nothing more than a cleaner that does not leave even a trace of protection. PwC, on the other hand, contains UV inhibitors, cleans, and leaves a bit of protection behind. Think of PwC has a Klasse AIO equivalent whereas PP is just a pure chemical cleaner.
 
6.5 with 5 inch backing plate.. *I* get better results with that combo.



oh you can never have enough pads...but minimum I would say 1 cutting, 2 polishing, 2 finishing. More emphasis on polishing down the road.
 
Before worrying about polishes and LSPs, I'd get a couple of buckets, couple of washmits, couple of waffles weave towels for drying, some good quality microfibre cloths for product removal, maybe a wheel brush, some NXT shampoo is pretty good value if you're on a tight budget - basically I'm saying concentrate on your wash items first.



If you already have all of the above, then please forgive me!

I think i'm pretty sure that i'm going with 4*UPP for my sealant (or is ex-p better?). how are the meguiar's soft buff pads? now i just can't decide between natty's, s100, and megs #16. which one works best on white? sorry that i'm stretching this so long but it's my first time buying these more expensive stuff compared to the otc things i usually use and i want it to be money well spent and i want to have a crystallizing experience with boutique products. thanks.

10oz of AIO will be good. You only need a couple of ounces to do an entire car. Maybe 2 or 3?



As for the Meguiar's softbuff pads... they are excellent. If you have problems with them, Meguiar's will always help you out and fix the situation. I am sure that other companies will do that as well but I feel that Megs has very good customer service. Their polishing pad is very versatile. I recommend their cutting pad if you need to remove more sever defects. Their finishing pad is also good but I my self donâ€â„¢t use it often. I usually do finishing work by hand. Either way works, but make sure to decide which route to go before you buy. Donâ€â„¢t buy something your never going to use if you prefer doing it by hand.



I hope this helps. I cant comment too much on the waxes other than that they are all very good products and you wont go wrong with any of them. Some one else with more experience will have to comment on which one is the absolute best for you.

Definitely AIO as a cleaner prior to applying polish or wax. I have been using the Meguiar's 6 1/2 " pads with the 5" backing plate and have been very pleased. I have the yellow (polishing), red (cutting) and tan (finishing) pads. I would order one finishing pad, two polishing pads, and perhaps one cutting pad. As far as waxes go, you really can't go wrong with P21S. It is so easy to apply and remove.
 
i know that you have to wait in between coats of AIO and 4*UPP, but what i don't know is how much coats and how long should i wait. and since i will be driving my car it will accumulate dust so i was wondering if i can use the poorboys waterless wash to clean the surface before i put on the 2nd + coats.because i don't feel like having to wash so much times. or else the neighbors will think i'm crazy and i'm going to get in trouble with the housing administrators here for washing my car since the water is free here and i'm not allowed to wash my car but i manage to do it on the weekends when they're not around.
 
I dont know how long your supposed to wait between AIO and 4*UPP. It shouldnt be too long. 1 coat of wax is good, two is great, 3 works too.... but you get something called diminishing returns. But! if applying wax is theraputic for you, keep on layering on those coats :D



Poorboy's Spray and Wipe will work very well for you. It is best suited to remove a small amount of dirt/dust. You should also look at Protect All's QEW. It is a wash that only requires a gallon or two of water... it might be worth looking at.
