Help with chevy cobalt cloth seats

I did my first bucket wash today and I must say I am very

happy with the results. I want to thank the gents who

supplied the nice bucket wash tips in the past few days.



I called One Grand Tech Support to see if they had any feelings

about Protectall and Blitz interaction. They said it should

be fine but if you want to experiment try this out for size.



They said OG Show Off has been used for years in the

bucket wash method with great success. Just add 1 cap

full of OGSO to a gallon of your water.



So I said I'll give it a shot while my Protectall is in transit.

Well it came out almost as good as a full wash even though

it had rained yesterday and the car had hundreds of dirt droplets. Did the wheels also which had a lot of brake dust.

The only negative was that it took about 2 hours. Now after

learning the ropes I probably can do it in an hour.



Everything done with 1 and a half gallons of bottled spring

water. Believe it or not two cars pulled up and just watched

me. It's my quess they were DEP.



For full washes I found one of the self serve coin ops in central

Jersey. The lucky thing is that I play in a traveling golf club

and we play in New Jersey once every 3 or 4 weeks.

This particular coin op car wash happens to be 2 blocks from

the course we play. I'll do the full wash before sign-in.

Talk about 2 birds with one stone.

One office water cooler sized jug of water is about $3.75 at our local water place. I could probably do 1 car with 3/4 of a jug.
 
I think I will try this method out with Meguiars QD. Its pretty cheap and I like it because it is very lubey (is that even a word trying to say it has more lubricants in it ebcause some consumers QD a dirtier car than most Autopians.)



My OG Show Off (Thanks Don) is very precious and Meguiars QD is available locally.



What did you use to wash? a wash mitt? A rag? How did you dry it, towels? Well I'm basically asking you how did you perform this whole process. I just have so many products to test!

rd_volvo, thanks for the info.



I'm not surprised at all that a capful of OGSO or any QD for that matter would work like Protect All. It doesn't take that much lubrication to prevent swirls when bucket washing. In fact, I'd be lucky to tell the difference between a gallon of water mixed with Protect All vs. a gallon of fresh clean water. It almost feels like you are bucket washing with plain, regular water.



As soon as my protect all runs out, i'm gonna start chipping away at my gallon of OGSO that's sitting in my office (haven't even taken it home yet).

Pre-spray :



Pre sprayed dirty section to do with a spray bottle [ 1 cap of

OGSO added to water ] and let it soak for about 30 sec's.

Wash Medium :



This morning I stopped over at Pep Boys for some stuff

and noticed that Detalier's Choice came out with a

new Oversized chenille mitt so I grabbed it. About a foot long.



Washed it good before hand. Dipped mitt in bucket and

rang out just enough so there is 10 to 20 % saturation.

Swipe back and forth over pre-sprayed section with mitt. Very Lightly.

Only pressure that comes from gravity so not to induce swirls.



Was able to do whole car with this one large mitt.

Drying Towel :



Quickly dry the section with Fieldcrest. [ again, lightest pressure possible ] *Note * You may see wax swirls. No big deal as they

dissappear when you do the QD step.

QD :



QD the section you just did. I used OGSO and a cut up Fieldcrest.

Burnish QD lightly into section.

Each painted section took a few minutes. After painted sections,

I went back and did the windows as per fellow Autopians. Worked

like a charm. Even SprayWayed windows after cleaning.

Wheels :



I poured what was left of the OGSO solution [ about a gal, not to dirty either ] into my wheel bucket and used a cotton candy type Detailer's Choice wash mitt I normally use on my clear coat wheels.



Brake dust came off like butter. Could not believe it! Dry with

older towel. Almost looked like full washed wheels.





Incorporate this method with a full wash at one of the coin op bays every 3 or 4 weeks and I think we can beat this drought

thing.

Those are really good instructions. I think the key (like you mention several times) is to use the lightest pressure possible. I've gotta try out your 'spray-presoak method' this weekend. Other than that, I do pretty much what you do except I use a wrung-damp MF for my first drying pass and a second clean dry MF to buff the panel to a shine.
 
i just had a car dropped in but im awaiting for my new carpet extractor and i just sold my old one
the carpet is stained and the cloth seats have water stains
any suggestions on how to clean them please
