Help, White marks on my plastic bumpers.

Heloo guys,



How r u doing?



I just got my car detailed last 3 weeks. I am currently driving an 08 MDX. It has plastic bumpers on the front and back of the vehicle. Now, My bumper has white spots all over my bumper. I tried to wash it, but it didn't go away. I was really mad with the detailer. Since, They didn't do any good to my car. Do you know how to remove the white spots from the bumper?

you should post up some pics if possible so that we can see if it's damaged or leftover product residue.



White marks generally sound to me like some sort of wax getting on the plastic and not being wiped off.



If it is indeed wax then you can try some All Purpose cleaner and a brush, even a tooth brush to scrub it out.



Don't quote me on that though yet as we have not seen pictures.

no no no not lysol.



APC like Meguiars All Purpose Cleaner or walmart carries Purple Power but that i would recommend diluting it down a lot as it can be pretty strong. Look for something made for automotive use.



That looks really hazy on the bumper like they tried to polish it with something. I was going to say maybe they bumped into a couple parts of the bumper with a buffer pad but i doubt they even buffed it.



Someone else will chime in but i'm sticking with my wax residue comment above.
 
Hi, Thanks a lot for a very fast response. I have checked the meguiar's all purpose cleaner, but it shows that it is for interior only. However, they do have a plastic cleaner like PlastX Clear Plastic Cleaner & Polish. Which one do you reccomend? Thank you. :)
 
It looks like wax splatter to me. Can you remove the spots if you (carefully) use your fingernail?
 
Meguiars APC is used widely by many people for all sorts of stuff.



Personally i use it to clean tires, interior, plastic, engine bays . . . . . even works great to pre soak the lower panels on the car to loosen up road grime.

My friend manage to Reduce the whiteness a lil bit by his finger. I heard vegetable oil and peanut bufter canbe used as well
 
never heard of using those two items. Heck if you have some simple green just poor a tiny bit in a buck of warm water and tackle it. No need to use a lot.
 
I almost always get these out with 303, which is also a cleaner or so it says. I'm not sure if it loosens it or just darkens the residue, but it goes away and you're left with sealed/dressed plastic that is resistant to more stains and looking brand new or better.



It's available online at Amazon/AutoGeek, or in boating supply stores.



Of course the above ideas are good too.
 
I'm not sure how a detailer could have sprayed wax onto your front bumper like that. Are there white spots on the back bumper too?



I really like the peanut butter idea, I think you should try that and get back to us.

Looks like his buffer rubbed all over the bumpers. I think I see buffer trails in one of the pictures. Get some APC and scrub it with a toothbrush.
 
Thank you guys.. I just received a new information regarding the chemicals. I'm gonna try it tomorrow morning. A person told me from forums.e60.net that he took it off with a Dishsoap such as Palmolive or Dawny. I'll get back to you if this is working. If this does not work I am gonna use APC or peanut butter.
 
I had a 2009 Wrangler with similar type plastic black bumpers. It developed white spotting somewhat similar to your problem. I used Mother's "back to black", and it solved issue. I found it at walmart, it comes in a small red bottle about 8" tall.

Hate to break it to you but no it didn't solve the issue.. It covered the issue up. Once it wears off you'll be right back to the spotty mess you started with.
 
If these marks are truly wax residue, I have had excellant results with Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Don't buy the 'automotive' formula. It's no different than the regular with a jacked up price.
