Help w/ Polish/SSR combos . BUYING SOON

RyansAutoDetail

Weekend Warrior
after looking at the prices of menzerna that is a little outside my price range and am looking at getting the following really soon:

Poorboys Pro Polish
SSR 2.5
SSR 1

Q: do I absolutely need a glaze with the above three?

Vehicles at my home are the following
1999 hunter green ford windstar
2007.5 BMW 323i Navy Blue Metallicish
2001 Ford Ranger Silver
2008.5 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer Navy Blue

these are the cars ill be working on and a brothers friend has a black pontiac G5 coupe with really bad spider webbing and light surface scratches.

ive also looked at some of the mirror glaze line from megs and could also look at some of those ...

is there anything else i would possibly need than the top three ive picked out ?

and would i use the polish first or last with a full polish plan ?

PP
SSR 2.5 and or 1
LSP
??

With all those dark cars, some Blackhole might be just the thing. Depending on amount of correction needed the SSR 2.5 may not have enough cut for the initial work.

Sounds like a good start though!

That should do fine.

The Pro Polish and SSR1 are so close in their abilities that I don't see you needing both. I especially don't see the need to use them both on the same car. One or the other IMO.

I would say that a glaze is not necessary. Might be nice to have to do some minor hiding of flaws you can;t remove, though.
The polishes you have picked out will do probably 90% of the work you'll ever be tasked to do with a PC. And there is differing school of thought as to whether to use the chemical polish before or after the swirl remover steps. In your particualr case, I'd start out with the SSR1 and see if it removed the defects you intend to remove. If not, step up to the 2.5. You'll probably need to follow this with the SSR1 or the PP to remove minor hazing.

ok thanks alot for the input im proabably going to be ordering everything this week

so far in my e-cart is the following

PB pro polish, ssr 1, ssr 2.5, pinnacle XMT 180 paste wax, optimum spray car wax
buying NXT 2.0 locally and maybe others but i think the above should be enough to start with !

and currently i have mothers showtime and cleaner-carnauba wax, meguiars UQDT, mothers clay kit, eagle one wax as you dry(will be phased out, but this did do a good job), megs scratchX 2.0, cant wait till i get more goodies in my detailing bag !

I would recommend Natty's Red or Blue instead of the XMT.

i decided on the P21s concours look wax and brings the total to exactly $350 canadian incl taxes and shipping which basically is my budget for half of everything $175 .

cant wait to get polishing !

ALSO LAST MINUTE, would i absolutely need SSR 1 and pro polish or one or the other, cuz im thinking after what people have said pro polish kind of out does SSR1 ... and jared said there would never be a need to use both on the same car in almost all cases, so should i swap out the SSR1 and get a glaze along side ssr2.5 and pro polish ?

but overall on that old paint it sure made it damn smooth and shiny !

then topped it with ultimate car wax spray and megs UDQ ..

doing the rest tomorrow yall !

poorboys 2.5 is the bomb! should be able to tackle anything or at least 90% of your jobs. use it with a polishing pad for bad swirls, or you could step it up to light cutting, or cutting pad. The more aggressive you get with SSR2.5, the more need for SSR1 you will need. Some cars I'm able to 2.5 and polishing pad, then polish with carnauba, done. On others 2.5, then 1 then ex or exp.I use pro polish before I apply wax or sealant. PP seems to clean very well, and freshin up your previous polish job, leaving it ready for your favorite last step product.

I am thinking about picking up some polish w/sealant.

if you do go with pbs make sure u get a yellow pad if not itsn ot gonna do xxxx ive made sedveral passes on my dads black mustang ya its shiney but theres still swirls

LC orange pads are a necessity with a DA for correction. I have even used Meg's old Burgundy pad, This pad creates much marring though, so you are warned.

Can't wait to try my PFW.

the new SSR1 is now on my xmas list for this year .... as well as a few others i need to add to my paint correction box downstairs .... im still missing a few things such as M205 to go with my 105 compound .
