Hey I had a question, I scratched my front bumper and wanted to touch it up.

Here are some pics of the damage.

Yes it cannot be buffed out since paint has been removed. I wanted to touch it up and wanted to know the best way? Should I use spray paint touchup or brush?

Also what grit should I use, I was going to use 3000 grit sandpaper since bumper paint is very thin. Or should I use 2000?

Here are my steps.

1) Clean area with prepsol

2) Mask off rest of areas and spray many light coats.

3) Spray with clearcoat

4) Wet sand with 3000 grit

5) Use PC and SSR2.5

and done!

What do you guys say?

Also what is a cheap place to buy the paint in a can, so far I found these

http://www.autopaintdirect.com/spray.html

and

http://www.automotivetouchup.com/spray_paint.asp

Thanks!

I can't tell if it's dug into the plastic at all but if it is you're going to need to fill that void first somehow otherwise it'll be obvious. As far as touch-up paint goes you get what you pay for so if you opt for a cheaper brand you might not get the results you're looking for. Also, since it's plastic you'll need to use an adhesion promoter of some sort otherwise the paint could have trouble sticking along with a flex additive mixed in the paint.
