Help me tweak my process

I am about to purchase the PC 7424 with the sonus pads kit. If im not mistaken it comes with 3 pads ( Orange, Green, Blue) and a buffing bonnet.

Here is my potential process

1. Wash with Meguairs

2. Clay Magic

3. AIO

4. SSR 2.5

5. SSR 1

6. S100

Anything else to add to give a really awesome finish. Can you also specify which pads to use with each step, and how many of each pad to finish off a vehicle.

Also... any problems with this setup or any hazing/marring problems with ssr 2.5 and ssr 1.

Thanks for all the help.

you dont really need the AIO step.

+1 definitely don't need that step

There is a thread floating around that talks about pad abrassiveness. There is another that talks about the cutting ability of various products, but basically you ar dealing with this:

1. SSR 2.5- green pad... if that doesn't remove swirls go to the orange

2. SSR 1- if the ssr 2.5 is done properly, you will not need the SSR 1, but this takes some practice

3. S100 by hand or blue pad. Can buff off with MF towel or buffing bonet

So.. no cleaner... just go straight to the polish?

Fine with me.. less work.

Any more suggestions. Will i have enough pads with just 1 of each?

In the ideal world, where money doesn't matter, you would want to buy a new pad for every single product you use. When I bought my PC, I received the three pads you mentioned above, but I also bought 2 more greens, 1 yellow, and 1 blue pad. You can never have enough green pads, and I guess blue for that matter.

Unless you are a professional, you will only use the orange and yellow pads once in the beginning and then occasionally for spot removal (i.e. swirl removal in spots).

In you case, I would start the SSR2.5 with the green pad, but that leaves you w/o a green pad for the SSR1. So you see, another green pad would be very helpful.
