Help me pick a QD ...

I'm currently using the Adams Quick Detailer, I had a gallon of it and I'm almost out which leaves me looking to try something new. I'm happy with with how the Adams performs compared to the Mothers Showtime QD that comes with their clay, but I haven't really tried a whole lot of QD's to know how well the Adams works overall.

I hardly ever QD to remove dust or dirt so cleaning power isn't very important. I would like something that makes the surface very slick. Protection isn't a big deal as I'm currently using #845 as my LSP. I mainly use my QD for assisting in drying after a wash and to help remove any water spots while drying. I use my QD for a clay lube, but I don't want to have separate QD's for QD'ing and claying so a bulk size container would be nice.

Price is not a big issue, but value is important, thats why I would prefer something in bulk sizes (1+ gallon). I paid $35 for a gallon of Adams QD and would like to stay somewhere around that price to size ratio.

I was looking at the CG Extreme Slick Synthetic -Polymer Detailer because of size and surface slickness.

I'm very happy with Clearkotes QuickShine, although I haven't used it as a clay lube I would if need be .02

FK1 #425 leaves a super slick finish, and its anti-static properties are no joke - the first time I used it, I QD'd all of my car except the roof and found a large layer of dust on the roof 2 days later with almost none anywhere else on the car.

I'm currently looking for a dilutable QD, because I know they're out there!

Make your own, as long as the car is nice and clean (this home brew does not clean all that well). Try this: 3 parts distilled water to 1 part Klasse Sealant Glaze. Put it in a mister type bottle or rechargeable aerosol can. These do much better than a regular spray bottle.

The FK1 425 definitely stands out as a choice, but I was hoping for something in a larger container. How long does the "dust repelling action" last?

I am definitely going to read up on the PB's S&G, it seems like a lot of people are using it.

Thanks guys!!

QuikShine FTW! I have been using it for about two years now and absolutely would not be without it in my detailing arsenal. It's so versatile and easy to use, not to mention the extra shine it adds to the paint. QS works on top of almost any wax or sealant that I have used. I'm using it right now on top of AJ in place of Acrylic Glos. QS just leaves the surface so slick and shiny, even the glass comes out perfect. The cost is somewhere around $30/gallon, and to save shipping weight, it comes as a concentrate in a gallon container. Just mix with distilled water and go. I always keep some QS and a MF in my trunk. QS is my most favorite QD ever.

You can get 425 by the gallon (or more)

just click on the professional page and you will see it!

I think it was like $28+$5 s/h

and works great!

where's the best place to buy quikshine?.. i would like to try it out

i usually use sonus acrylic spritz, sonus carnauba QD or meg's QDs, one in the darker bottle, i forgot what it's called

Like Danase said give CG'sPro Detailer a try or even their Extreme Slick Polymer Detailer both can be diluted with distilled water.

You should also order FK 146. You pay the same shipping for one gallon each of 425 and 146.

146 has cleaning bite and the same dust repelling of 425. After much use of both I only use 425 after adding a wax or sealant to restore the anti-static barrier. For quick cleaning I use 146 epecially after a wash.

I should have ordered two gallons of 146 for every gallon of 425. I've tried every quick detailer you can get your hands on this is by far...............the cleanest my car has stayed for the longest period of time. I don't know what those guys are doing to this stuff at FK but it's no BS. After a rainfall my car will be CLEANER and the soil will migrate to the lower portions. Very few water spots.

Teflon is the best way to describe the 146 and 425 finishes.

So, racingbeat, would you consider 425 to be similar to Zaino's Z8 in terms of how often you use it? I would only like to order one, being a poor college student and all. I don't really need a cleaner as I wash quite often, just something to aid in drying and something that looks good.

Z8 will have much better durability than 425, and it is also easier to use. IMO Duragloss Aquawax is a lot like Z8, so if you're looking for a Z8-type product it's a no-brainer.

Another good product that would fit your needs is the CG Extreme Synthetic Detailer that you mentioned; I find that it performs a lot like 425. Very slick, looks good, can smear a bit on application. Oh and only like $21 a gallon at our forum sponsor Danase.com after 10%forum discount.
