Tomorrow im detailing 05 silver civic for a friend that is moving to hawaii

She will be driving from RI to CA then shipping the car to Hawaii

so i would like the lsp to be as durable as possible and still look its best

here are my choices

s100

collinite #885

collinite #845

Megs #21

Megs #26 paste

Megs #16

Megs NXT paste

I'm thinking #885 or #16 topped with s100

just like to get some other opinions

thanks

On silver I'd go with either 845 or 16. Both look great on silver and have similar excellent durability.

I don't like like 26 or NXT, they seem to darken silver. I wouldn't top either 845 /16 with S100. I really like the S100 look on silver but its beading isn't as good and you would lose the self cleaning abilities.

I fit was mine I'd do 16x2.

I just left hawaii the climate is not that tough out there. you could use alot of things and it would work. It will see more damage from RI to CA than it will 2 months in HI. The biggest problem will be what she picks up on the rd trip, and not having it washed off in a timely maner. Get your self some better sealents (menzerna fmj, klass). Just tell her to wash in cali whatever you do. use the NXT paste.

I would like to add that you have to be careful where in Hawaii your friend will be living. There are locations where you're in constant exposure to the sea spray and if left out, out proximity to the equator (relative to the continental 48) can be quite a harsh combination. I would also consider the shipping line that you do choose. When I moved back from Seattle to Hawaii, I shipped via Matson and I believe the car is left out in the open. I believe Horizon ships vehicles in containers. When I picked up my car at Matson after it's week long journey across the Pacific, it was pretty nasty looking and covered with salt. I didn't catch a rock chip before I dropped it off and it was rusted up pretty good.

Just some other things to consider.

Of those choices, I'd say S100 although #16 may last a while longer. My personal favorite on silver is UPP followed by Z2Pro.

Thanks for all the replys

the detail got cancelled on sunday and ill be doing this sat if thew weather is good

why would you guys recommend a super soft carnuaba like S100 on silver?

Silver should look like a clean mirror when it's done. There's no real deepness, so why bother trying to get the little teeny bit that you'd gain from S100.

The trick is to play to the color's strengths... Light colors need to be bright and reflective, not deep and wet...

Klasse and UPP are both awesome choices, but in the given arsenal, I'd rock NXT paste or #21. NXT paste is 100x better than the liquid, and looks awesome on silver, and #21 was made for light colors..

I'd prolly use the paste, as it's one of my 'go to' waxes right now.

But i'd stay away from the 'deep' carnuaba's like 26 and S100. At least for this color.

I hardly find S100 to be deep. In my experiences with it, it is very reflective and shiny, much like a sealant. Deep to me is CMW or Souveran.

I agree. I use s100 exclusively on light colors, if I use it all. Often times a sealant will look best alone.

It use to be S100 exclusively for us on silver..Now its Prime-Carnauba (WPC).

Granted we are only 3 weeks into it but it is holding up to this point.. I checked a dirty one this weekend and just went over the paint with JW Spray Wash and that alone brought it back to original shine. Time will tell be so far so good.
