Help Me Pick A Camera

I will start off by saying I shoot Nikon. (I also shoot Fuji, Sony & Samsung GS3 and Flip Video & Canon video - depending on what is in my hand.)

My humble opinion: When Nikon releases a new generation of camera, it reaches the top of the heap. Canon, who much more frequently releases cameras, catches up and surpasses them for the next couple of years until Nikon releases a new generation.

Nikkor lenses tend to be a bit sharper - but who cares?

After obsessing on cameras for a while, I found Ken Rockwell's site (KenRockwell.com: Photography, Cameras and Taking Better Pictures) and now am much happier.

Yes, and once you start buying lenses, you are locked into a system. Fast telephoto lenses are $$ in either system.

Pick one, go take pictures and don't look back!
 
As posted earlier, I use Nikon. It is a D90.

I always find myself shooting in lower light but want depth of field so always pushing the ISO up to get shutter speeds I can hand hold. I am trying to decide whether to go full frame or not. The choice would be the Nikon D600 (FX) or wait for the long wanted D300/D7000 rDX replacement. For me great ISO performance is my primary factor.

I already have some DX lenses (90mm Tamron, Nikon 50mm f1.8, 70 to 300mm) but really want a faster 17-55 class for indoor images. I looked at the Tamron and did not like the pics so there is the Sigma.

Of course, the most important aspect is the photographer (not the camera/lens) since it is composition, lighting, and proper focus that really make great pics. It is also knowing what is going on inside the camera as it decides everything: focus, exposure, setting shutter speed, etc.
 
But the Cannon Body, and then go to a Camera shop and but a couple of good len's, this is where it matters most, especially on what you intend to shoot. For up close a good (fast - 2.8 f-stop) Macro lens 18-55mm or larger) and good 2.8 Zoom lens (70-200mm). I shoot with a Cannon T3i.
