Help me consolidate my Detailing container!!

Over the past year or so, my detailing supplies have gotten just a tad of hand - I have duplicates of products that do the same thing or things that I've used like twice and just kept around. I am no Pro detailer by any means however I consider myself an "avid" detailer and keep my car looking the best in the most economically and time-saving way.

A bit of quick points that might help:

I own a 2004 Platinum Silver Metallic WRX - great for hiding swirls and dirt LOL. But alas under the right lighting I will admit I have toweling marks and very light swirls. I do have a stray scratch and chip here and there but I am not worried about them since this is my daily driver and they will take touch-up paint to fix for sure. I also realize silver color is very hard to get a deep, ultra-glossy reflection from but when it's really clean my car does "POP" a bit.

You can yell at me, but I don't have time to wax 4+ times a year - I maybe get to it twice a year - once before and after the winters here. So I am looking for things that have high endurance and lasting ability. However I do TRY to wash and "speed detail" at the end of every month. I hope to change my waxing/polish habits now that I own a PC.

I've organized the stuff I currently own in two groups - the stuff I don't mind parting with and buying GOOD replacements for and the other group are things that are my staples and you have to persuade me A LOT if you want me to discard them :) So let me know what you recommend I keep and if there's something I should toss let me know what's good instead!

Stuff I use but can part with (if needed)

- NXT Speed Detailer

- NXT Tech Protectant

- NXT Spray Wax and Tech Wax (liquid paste)

- NXT Glass Cleaner

- NXT Car Wash

- Meguiar's ScratchX

- Meguiar's #9 Swirl Remover 2.0

- Meguiar's Clay Bar and Quik Detailer

- Meguiar's Foam and MF applicators

- Meguiar's fine bristle washing brush

- Eagle One All-Wheel and Tire Cleaner

- Rain-X window wax

- Prestone Carpet Cleaner

- Costco and Target (Vroom) MF

- Armor All Orange cleaning wipes

Stuff that works awesome for me

- Mr. Clean AutoDry Pro (for super quick jobs)

- Eagle One Nevr-Dull polish

- Griot's Rubber and Vinyl Dressing

- Griot's Plastic Polish

- Griot's Fine Glass Polish

- Griot's Interior Cleaner

- Griot's Speed Shine

- Stoner More Shine Less Time Tires

- Stoner Invisible Glass

- Stoner Trim Shine

- Griot's Random Orbital PC (w/ Orange and Red pads)

- 3M Adhesive Remover

- PakShak MF

- Swiffers

- Simple Green Max, Powersports (for my Kawa Ninja)

Thanks a ton for reading and helping me out! I think the biggest area I will need help is in waxing and polishing. Ok, ready go!! :hifive:

now if you get a good APC you can mix it to clean all kinds of things..

Meg wheel brightener/poorboys spray and rince are great wheel cleaners

Natty's white, pin sig II,collinite 476 double coat are great on silver..

for sealant's zanio,ex-p from porboys,liquid sov..

Since my car is about 3 years old, how does one feel about the Klasse pair - AIO and SG? Can I apply those with my random orbital and if so, what speeds should I apply at? Again, I have the orange pad (for polishing) and a red one (Griot's color but I assume its equivalent to blue) for waxing - I hope those are sufficient?

What is Natty's white, pin sig II, collinite 476 double coat, ex-p from porboys, and liquid sov??

Geeze E1 all wheel and tire cleaner is one of my favorites

If you really plan on throwing it away, I'd be glad to buy some of them... :) Personally, I would keep the clay bar, like others suggested. I'm also very happy with Rain-X, I really think it does wonders at repelling water when it's raining. The Scratch-X I'd probably also keep because it's always handy when you have some little swirls.

As for durability, I would go with the Collinite 476S or 845 if you don't have a lot of time to wax throughout the year. It beads very nicely and gives quite some protection. If you don't need too much shine, go with the 476. It lasts longer than the 845, which lasts around 6 months (depending on conditions)

Good luck figuring out what you need!

yea, i don't know why I put the E1 wheel cleaner and clay bar in the "toss" group LOL. I am definitely keeping them.

I am going to order things real soon. I spent the last hour searching and reading through reviews on the board. Let me know if these things will work well in harmony (and easy to apply/take off with my orbital PC):

Polish: Klasse AIO or Meguiar's ColorX

Sealant/Wax: Collinite IW 845

Spray Wax: Duragloss Aquawax

Bonnets for my PC: Sonus MF (polish) and Concours (wax)

Can I order all of these things from the same site too?

OK, I ordered my Collinite 845 IW from Advance Auto and will head to my local Carquest tomorrow for the Duragloss AW. I will probably get the AIO and whatever else from bettercarcare.com! :D are there any online coupon codes for the site when ordering?

anybody out there??? lol

interesting to note however, I went to my Carquest today and no luck finding Duragloss AW on the shelves. I asked a youngish man behind the counter if he could order it for me to the store and said their store doesn't order/carry Duragloss, only Meguiar's, Mother's, and other OTC. hmmph!!!

oh well i will have to order it directly. the NAPA store down the highway didn't have it either.
