Help Me Consolidate Chemicals!

Hey guys,

I have recently gotten back into detailing and will be doing it on the side this summer. I have small quantities of stuff now, but am looking to buy one shipment of stuff from Autogeek for the rest of the summer. I was wondering if you guys could help me find multiple uses for one product so I can just order a few things in bulk.

For example:

I love Griots Interior Cleaner, but instead of this can I just use diluted ONR? I worry it may not clean as well and may leave a residue, however.

I have been using Griots interior dressing, but can I use Hyper Dressing? I am buying it anyway to replace CG Bare Bones (expensive but awesome) for my detailing jobs for tire shine/wheel wells.

As far as car wash, right now I have half a bottle of the Zaino wash, Dawn (use this on all customer cars getting buffed), and ONR. Most customer cars I like to wash regularly with a hose because they are too dirty for ONR in my eyes, but I would hate to buy a big thing of regular wash when I usually use Dawn. ONR is also nice for clay lube/washing in a garage. Can I use ONR for a traditional wash and eliminate Gold Class?

As far as polishes I have about half a bottle of M105, UC, SwirlX, and Megs Swirl Remover (#80?). I think I have three more correction jobs coming up soon and want to be prepared on polish, but 105/205 are so expensive! Maybe just buy the medium sized bottles of both? I was also considering the MF system (see my thread in machine polishing).

Any other tips for minimizing the amount of products I need? Keep in mind I can't go boutique products for most of these customers, but I need decent stuff to save me some time.

Thank you!

3D, the sponsor of this forum produces, themselves, not repackaged, good products, available in larger quanities, plus there are other known and respected companies that can meet your needs for volume detailing.

The other companies, like 3D, formulate and produce quality products that work for those who do volume details and cleanups.

They are not "flavor of the month" products, but true professional use products.

Meguiars' Detailing Line has a broad selection of products. You dilute these to use less, save more, or just optimize amount actually needed.

Hyper or Express Wash

APC - carpets, interiors, tires, wheels,

Glass Cleaner

Hyper Dressing

Interior Detailer

You can often get these locally.

As Ron mentioned 3D our sponsor has great products and the prices are very reasonable---3D Car Care - Car Wash, Car Wax, Auto Detailing supplies, Car Polishers, Car Buffers & accessories store

Barry Theil of Presidential Detailing is opening a 3D distribution near Lancaster, PA very shortly--if you are close enough you could drive there to save shipping costs and Barry or his staff could help with the choices --take a look at this thread http://www.autopia.org/forum/3d-high-definition-car-care/140610-introducing-3d-products-manheim.html#

I actually already have Megs APC and was looking at their hyper dressing because of the things you mentioned.

Their stuff looks like a good value, but how comparable is it to Megs stuff? I can't get ONR/Tarminator/etc. through 3D so I would have to place two orders which increases shipping costs but if their stuff is really good for the money, I can probably justify it. What I would need to order from them would probably be an interior cleaner, dressing, maybe a little polish, and some cutting pads.

Suggest you contact Barry, since products like Tarminator, etc are "brand names", and other companies such as 3D make the same basic formula's of many products such as the Tarminator, etc.

Plus, if you can get together with him and a sales person, they will demonstrate products, aid you in use of them, help with getting you the correct pads, etc that work best for the products.

Any chance you could give me his user name or contact info? I would wait until Monday to contact him but Autogeek's free shipping runs out in 8 hours and I would like to figure out which route I am going by then. My cart is at $200 right now and can't really get it much lower so I would be very interested in talking to him. Thanks!

Sorry about that, I actually had his user name, just wondering if there was a phone number or something. I looked at their site and couldn't find a number of things that I had found on the forum through searches (HD protect, for example). It doesn't seem like there are a ton of products unless they aren't all listed on the site?

On the corporate 3D site is a large selection of products and a contact area.

Barry just recently started his distribution company, so he may be a bit behind on some things needed to contact him.

Suggest you PM him if he doesn't jump in on the thread and contact you.

Thanks! I just left you a voicemail so you can gimme a call back or answer in here (last option might be the easiest).

I've basically decided on getting 3D/HD stuff, but need help selecting.

I need a bulk, affordable tire/wheelwell dressing. Ultra protectant good for this?

I need an interior protectant. I was looking for HD protect but can't find it anywhere. Has this been replaced with something else?

I need MF pads to use with my Meguiar's polishes and your UNO polish. Right now I have LC CCS pads (black/white/orange), but heard they don't work well with UNO. I would like to get something more aggressive and possibly smaller than what I have now (6"). If CCS pads worked with your stuff I would probably go with a yellow one but since they don't work I would like a MF pad that works with all my polishes.

Also, would your waterless wash also work as a clay lube and interior cleaner? Trying to consolidate my products and getting multiple uses out of one product would be great (similar to ONR).

Something similar to Tarminator would be great, too, for removing tar and road paint.

Well, just wanted to mention that Thomas called me back and was EXTREMELY helpful! I can already tell I am going to be impressed with this company. Looks like I will be getting some awesome products to try out soon :)

One thing that you will receive working with Thomas and Barry is something that is rare to come by these days, actual support, by a real person, for the products.
