Help me choose for Silver Sparkle.

hammondc

Damned pollen!!!
OK, so I got a 2005 Mazda3 hatchback about a month ago. First detail this weekend. Here are my choices for LSP. It is silver with a little sparkle to it.

P21s
Pinnacle Signature
UPP
Klasse

Also, I have some Red Moose....even worth applying on silver?

From personal viewing experience I would choose UPP.

Yet, if I had all of those in my arsenal to choose from I would use them all and find the one that pleases my eye the most.

Klasse AIO as a prep and UPP and/or P21S will likely look the best. UPP is just a great product with great slickness and looks very nice on silver. P21S is a very clear paste wax which will allow your metal flakes to pop as well. Or if you have time, do both... UPP topped with P21S after a day or two.

I have heard that the Pinacle SS wax looks great on silver as well... and Klasse SG doesn't look bad... it has that hard candy shell look too it but not too bad. The durabilty makes up for that, IMO.

Red Moose adds some nice clarity to the finish. I think it would work well. I'd top it with Signature Series. UPP can be used by itself and I've never felt the nedd to top it.

hmmmm choices choices.
Four out of four mentioned UPP.
Sounds like a pretty easy choice to make. :)
As one poster mentioned, Klasse AIO for a cleaner prep and UPP for the LSP makes for a great combination on Silver. (And white, and black, and blue, and maroon, and red, and gold :D)

I guess I'll be the lone dissenter on the UPP suggestion. Not that I don't think UPP is a fine product, I do. Not because it isn't possibly the slickest initial product I use, it is. But it also a "flake muter". I have used UPP on VW's Silver Reflex, a "sea 'o flake" paint, and I found that while it does look very nice, it did not really enhance the metal-flake. Likewise Liquid Souveran really imparts a nice appearance, but not if you really want that flake "pop". I would suggest PB's EX-P.

i dont have ex-pin my arsenal (yet). I really want that pop though. I have never really found upp to mute the flake though.

Is the Klasse SG or AIO?
If it is the Klasse AIO, using it as your cleaner prep followed by the UPP should look great. I used that combo on a silver Taurus and didn't notice any muting of the flake. There again, I didn't compare it to anything else. It looked good and that worked for me.

the klasse is the SG
Do you have a paint cleaner/prep you plan to use prior to your LSP?
IMO, you need to use one before the UPP to get the best results from the UPP. I used Klasse AIO or 4 Star's UPC for a prep with good results.
I really don't know what you would find locally that would work good.
Jared Pointer is a fan of Meguiar's ColorX as well as UPP, but I don't know if he uses the ColorX as a prep for the UPP.

Klasse AIO or UPC followed by UPP with definitely get your flake popping!:passout:

I definitely agree with what you are saying, but he probably isn't going to have much luck getting either one for this week-end's detail.
