Help me choose a product for my Pewter colored Murano

Chalky

I have a new Nissan Murano that is Pewter in color. It is a metallic paint that is almost like a charcoal grey.

I've never had this color paint before and I'm looking for suggestions on what to use on it. It is my daily driver and I'm located in Phoenix, Arizona. The car is parked outside 24/7.

I have the following products on hand:

PC buffer

P21S

Vanilla Moose

EX-P

Poorboy's QD+

Souveran

Pinnacle Crystal Mist

Meguire's Gold Class

Meguire's #9

3M SMR

Zaino (although it is about 3 years old)

Blitz

Will any of these products give me a nice look as well as some great protection or should I look at getting something else?

Thanks for any advice.

Mark

My experience says that metallic silver is hard to get a good result from.

Therefore, I would use a product that would get you durability.

Zaino isn't a bad choice, but I wouldn't use the 3 year old Zaino.

Maybe try the VM with EX-P on top (the scottwax combo).

If you're looking to buy, I think I'd consider AIO.

Check out the jag picture on this page. IMHO, that's about the best you're going to get with silver metallic. Not quite the pop or wet look you get from other colors.

My sister has a 04 Copper mirano and we clayed it then Menzerna FP then went with 1Z Glanz wax and it really made the copper metallic stand out. Dunno if it will do the same for you. Very easy on easy off.

I have a silverstone (darkish metallic gray) VW Passat that is similar in color and I really like the way Klasse twins look, with and without S100 topper. I'm running out of Klasse and am currently looking for something new with good durability.

On my short list of things I want to try that I've heard look good on my color are:

Poorboys EX-P

Menzerna FMJ

4 Star UPP

Michael

I'd go with VM topped by EX-P. That should really give some nice depth and still let the metal flake show through.

I would choose VM and EX-P.

I have a light pewter Grand Cherokee. I use Einszett MP and Glanz Wax. I recently tried Waxpolish Soft topped with Glanz Wax.

You can get the finish looking nice with some other products, but for now use what you have and see how you like it. Here is my recommendation for what you have:

First coat of VM by PC, with either a polish or finish pad, and then second coat by hand.

2 coats of EX-P

? coats of your favorite wax.

dbackfan, I have a Pewter (also mettalic) (can't be certain but would appear to be a shade [or 2] darker than the Jeep shown by andriver) '96 Volvo 850 GLT. For the past year or so I've been using Poorboy's EX over a couple of different polishes. I want to try something else, but just like the look. The EX has also performed quite nicely in the durability department.

Without periodic maintenance, I don't know how the P21S, Souveran, or Gold Class will hold up to the elements.

You don't list it, but prior to the EX I was using American Shine's Liquid Carnauba. And prior to that ...

Stuf and the Pink Wax (spit shine method) NickT mentioned both call to me though.

I would have to go with the VM/EX-P combo! I love it on my girls truck, I would not use anything else!! Want some pics!!:xyxthumbs

These pics are on a 96 S-10, I used VM with a cutting pad, then VM with a polishing pad, and 1 coat of EX-P by hand! You should see the truck now that I have a second coat on there! The shine is amazing! Definetely go with the VM/EX-P!! Sorry the pics are around sun down, but you get the idea of reflection!! I wouldn't top the EX-P with anything!
