HELP: Long trip ahead, GF says "No 'Car Stuff'"

Quote: "Honey, you are way too beautiful to be riding around in a bug splattered car and I am doing this for you"

~One man’s opinion / observations ~

You know how they love to be complimented…kevmo 327’s idea can’t fail

Hope you both enjoy the vacation.....

~Hope this helps~

Get a front end cover, they're great for road trips.....bugs can sit on it instead of your paint or you can easily wipe them off for a neater look and you'll avoid some rock chips. Pack a bottle of QD and MF's and get the mirrors and above the windscreen and you are set.

I wouldn't get too bent out of shape about it, my guess is she's concerned about having your undivided attention. My fiance was the same way until she got her new car a couple weeks ago. Man...its funny now. "But we can't go out, you haven't washed my car yet!"

What I do is get the car nice and clean before the trip and just leave it. In all honesty if the surface is well waxed and protected no bugs are going to hurt it in a weekend. Take some QD and a couple MFs for bird bombs and call it done ;)

Well I am pretty familiar with the myrtle beach area (went to college there last year) and there is actually a pretty good do it yourself cleaning garage on 501 next to the Carolina Forest shopping center. This place is about a 10-15 minute ride from the water depending on traffic and will cost you about 8 bucks to do the whole car.

I think that this is a good option but if I were you I would hide some QD under the trunk floor with the spare tire (atleast thats what I would do).

ZJ JIM 96, glad to see another local who faces similar dilemmas. :xyxthumbs

Hopefully. BlkZ28Conv's explination will suffice.

Just remember not to spend too much time detailing it once you are there. That has gotten me in trouble in past with the significant other.

Say to the Girl Friend that you will spend the exact time on her that you spent on the car, giving her the best ?________minute

Massage, Kiss, __________?, what ever she enjoys you doing for her.:scared

So knock yourself out and bring all your goodies!

If she declines, we'll know your not so hot a Detailer? ;)

Leave the car stuff behind and enjoy your vacation. I will be more worried about the rock chips then the bugs.

agreed

just top your front end with an extra coat of wax right before the trip, and just fix it up once you get back to your house after the trip

Tell her to leave all her makeup and hair stuff at home. If your car can't have its beauty treatment, then neither can she.

On second thought, don't say that. Go with the complimentary idea above....

If she still says no, don't sweat it. A weekend without being washed is not going to damage your paint if it is waxed good prior to leaving.

OMG! This is Autopia! Cooking spray? Bra? :shocked

Cooking spray is NOT something you want on your vehicle... it turns into a sticky mess not long after spraying.

Try it on a piece of whatever and let it sit outside.

Bra? It'll keep the bugs and rocks off, but it'll also abrade the paint unless it is perfectly clean, and remains perfectly clean.

First time a semi kicks up dust from the side of the road, that's overwith.

Find a mobile detailer in Myrtle Beach before you leave. You can have a clean car, help a brother out and still spend all of your time with her.

Maybe a little off topic, but...

If you were to apply wax to just you front bumper cover and mirror housings, let it haze, and not buff it off, would bugs just wipe off easily later? Any adverse affects to not buffing off the wax?

Just an idea maybe. I dunno.

During my annual F1 trip from NY to Montreal I always bring my "stuff" with me. My wife doesn't mind. Last year I think she got a little ticked off though. The first half of the trip was all rain. Midway when it stopped raining I pulled over at the nearest rest area and proceeded to QD the whole car.

When I travel I have a little travel bag with a few items which I stick in the wheel well or under the back seat.NOBODY is going to tell me when to wash and not wash my car on vacation or not.I get up early find a hose quick wash and wipedown then I get the papers and relax at the pool.WE are sick people and to tell us not to wash our cars is like telling someone not to smoke!!!!
