Help! I wax my car to much

Good evening everyone,

I have a Black 1999 Buick Regal GSE. It has plenty of spider webbing on it and I do everything to cover them up. I have tried Einzett polish and wax, Meguiars #7,#9,#26.#16, premium paint cleaner, Gold Glass, and NXT, Turtle wax, Liquid Glass, Mothers, and now I am looking at Nano Wax. The website pictures show it covers them up, but for how long? I would be fine waxing every other month or so. Right now though I am waxing every week sometimes twice in a week. I have had my car for two years and I have waxed it no less than 165 times. The longest I have taken to wax it was 8+ hours. I am paranoid. This may cost me my relationship. What should I do? I need something that will cover-up the spider webbing and last for two months or so. I can't afford to have the car fully detailed.

I wash it very carefully these days so I do not plan on creating anymore spider webbs. #16 is on there now. Any thoughts will be greatlly appreciated. By the way how do you keep cats away?

Jees, anouther regal! Good! If you're not a member of www.regalgs.org. you really need to become one. Maybe you'll get less consentrated on the exterior, and start working on the engine.



Also, try out some Meguiars Professional Line #81 and #82. Go with the DACP, then with the Swirl Free Polish. I got some good results even by hand, and with my PC coming soon, I can't wait to get it going, to get rid of what ever swirls are left.



Did you notice that the Regal can be really annoying to wax with that stupid bottom trim?

The real issue may have nothing to do with paint flaws.:nixweiss



Your getting some kind of pay off detailing your car like you do, while sacrificing your relationship.:wall



Your on an never ending quest, because your doing the same thing over and over and not getting the results your looking for.:wall :wall



No factory paint has a pefect flawless finish.:sosad



What is the REAL reason for your "paranoia", that could cost you your relationship over a Material Entity?:hm



Figure out the pay off your getting detailing your car excessively.

Don't take this the wrong way but maybe you should seek professional help.



I would be concerned about a compulsive obsessive disorder especially when your waxing is jeopardizing your personal relationships.
 
HA! 165 times in two years? I wax my car two three times a week. If that isn't sick, what is? Where is Dr Freud when you need him? bwaaa! ha! ha!
 
Prep the paint correctly and then use a good sealant like Klasse or Zanio (or similar) then spend more time with your family.



A PC might be a wise investment

Take 2-300 dollars. If you need to, save up. Buy yourself a PC, some nice polishing pads, and some good quality polishes/sealants. It will be worth it. I'm 14 and (this might prove that I need professianal help also;) ) have already spent more than that in pads, polishes, accessories, and of course the PC.



Then go an cuddle with you significant other. :o

Don't keep piling the wax on because you will undermine the resolution that your paint is capable of.



Use moderation, and put on as many coatings as you like, but only in a seasonal period or up to 8 months maximum. You should ONLY wax on clean un-contaminated paint. Even so, after a year or more of compounded deposits, the paint and wax start to oxidize, and you will need to clean off the wax and start over.



If you are a waxaholic (like me), and strive to have an intense depth of shine, then I would advise you to build your wax deposits slowly over a season, and use a good quick detail in between coatings (lets say after every third coat) to stretch and layer the coatings on uniformly without the haze or streaks associated with a lot of wax.

Remove the swirls, learn good washing techniques so you don't reintroduce swirls and cut back to waxing about once a month.
 
Waxing 165 times is your problem... if half of that was polishing, you wouldn't/shouldn't have any defects to worry about. Address the suface problems first then apply your favourite wax/sealant.



Don't let a car's paintwork come between an important relationship - unless the relationship isn't really that important...? You need to get yourself a herniated disc in your spine - that's sure to make you spend more time with your loved-ones... it's worked for me and saved me a fortune in detailing products! :D Darn painful tho'. :(
