Help for smelly car!!

The last few days Ive noticed that my car smells stale, stuffy, not pleasent. :o I was wondering if anybody knows a good yet stylish airfreshener?? I know those little paper tree things work but...well, i would prefer not to have a little tree hanging in my car. So any opinions or advice on how to make my little Tribute smell good?
 
You have to find out what is making the car smell stale, stuffy, and not pleasant.



It is mold in the AC/heater system? Did someone spill something in the vehicle, or worse, get sick? Did the interior get wet from rain, then closed up in high heat and humidity?



You have to treat the symptom, not mask it with air freshener.



I had a car last year that had an interior that smelled like a used diaper. The client did have a 6 month old infant. Lo and behold, while vacuuming the interior, I found a "soiled" disposable diaper under the passenger side front seat. The diaper was removed, the interior cleaned and Fabreezed... problem solved! ;)
 
Yup Yup... treat the problem otherwise the air freshener will just add to the existing odor... Get the interior detailed, and get your AC system cleaned... then see if the smell is still there...



Also, try airing out the car underneath the hot sun with windows and doors open...
 
I recently detailed the interior, including scrubbing the carpets and seats. I'll get the A/C checked for sure. i didnt think of that, thanks! I dont know what to do if its not that though...the rest of the interior is really clean.....
 
Did the smell come up soon after detailing the interior? You might have left some residue on the carpets or seats, which could lead to a stale smell depending on what you used...
 
There are products that you spray into the HVAC inlet that kill off the stuff living/growing in there. NOT as good as a professional cleaning/ionization treatment, but a lot better than nothing. I use the one by Wurth.

Sorry, don't have a link. These days I get my Wurth stuff through my mechanic. Here're the specifics, you can find it at places that sell Wurth brand products (maybe try Motorhead.net).
