Help damage on door.

Hi,

First I'd like to say hello form Scotland.

I've been the owner of a 2005 Nissan Almera (Black) for the last six months. It an ex hire car so didn't have great paint. Stone chips, swirls and light scratches.

I've treated the worst stone chips and have began to look after the paint.

It's been clayed twice (along with polish and wax) and I wash it weekly and quick detail midweek.

I use Einszett products.

Well it looks like I've been careless. I think water or something has dripped down the drivers door and I've not seen it. It now appears that it has damaged the clearcoat I first tried the quick detailer as soon as I noticed it. I then tried to wash it off. I've since tried Einszetts paint polish, Maquires ScratchX, and finally some cutting compound. Nothing is helping.

When you catch the light it looks like the clearcoat has been eaten away where each bead of fluid has been. Either that or each bead has bonded with the paint and it is actually a bump on the clearcoat. Its very difficult to tell. I can actually feel this damage when I run my finger over it.

From the poor description, can anyone give me some advise as to what I might try. I was thinging about some 1500 wet&dry but I'm not sure if thats the way to go.

If its a water spot, then any paint cleanser should be able to remove it. I would have expected the scratchX to be able to remove it - did it make any difference to it at all?

I have had this recently (With the hot temperatures) on the rear bumper, where the cavity wax was leaking out. It looked like a water stain, but the only thing which shifted it was some IPA solvent. Not sure if this is possibly what you are seeing.. Is it under a mirror housing, door handle or something similar?

Thanks for the reply.

I was not expecting this to be a problem. When I wash my car I usually take it for a spin. Then when I get home I use a quick detailer to remove the water mark that have come from the mirrors. This looked like the same sort of mark white marks where the water beads have been.

This looked the same but it was not under the mirror or handle. It a vertical beading right in the middle of the door panel. I'm quite fussy when I'm drying so I don't think it been left after a wash. I'm wondering if its come from a tree.

The only change in the mark is it's no longer white'ish. It's now clear and becuse the bead size is small I can't tell if it's raised or recessed.

Well had another go at it.

Used used my drill with the faom pad and compound from my stone chip kit.

It took a bit of doing, but it's virtually gone. You have to be really close to it and catch the right light to see it.

I'd love to know what did this. I thought it was just water. The car was in at the dealers recently I wonder if they spilt something on it.
