Help Cleaning Carpet?

I was worked on car today with a ton of pin needles embedding in the BLACK carpet. I must of spent an hour trying to vaccum and brush them out. I used a metal detailing brush and a 5 hp shopvac but still had trouble getting it all out. How do you get things that are embedded in the carpet out? Will shampooing the carpet help?
 
Although I have never personally experienced what you are dealing with, I would believe that the shampoo would remove any sticky sap or anything left on the needles making them easier to remove because there is less friction. JUst a guess.
 
Thanks but the lint roller wouldn't help. I had a hard time pulling them out with my fingers.
 
just a thought, i know ardex makes a sap remover. i wonder if you rubbed some in the area if it would netrualize the mess and be easier to vacuum up.
